10-24 F3.5-5.6

This is a class leader in the ultra wide zoom category. Designed for crop sensor Nikon DSLRs it offers an ultra wide to semi wide focal length range (35mm equivalent of 15mm - 36mm). It delivers fantastic image resolution throughout its entire focal range which is unmatched.

I was debating between the 10-24 and the 12-24 so I ordered them both to compare. Here's what I found: The 10-24 is wider (obviously) by a quite noticeable amount while still maintaining mostly straight horizon lines. I was pleasantly surprised and impressed by this.

Nikon AF-S DX Nikkor 10-24mm f/3.5-4.5G ED Review

If you're a fan of an ultra-wide perspective, the Nikon AF-S DX Nikkor 10-24mm f/3.5-4.5G ED lens delivers, but you'll need to narrow its aperture to improve edge sharpness. The Nikon AF-S DX Nikkor 10-24mm f/3.5-4.5G ED ($1,080 direct) delivers the widest angle of any zoom lens for Nikon's APS-C D-SLR camera system. It delivers a field of view that's equal to a 15-36mm lens in traditional 35mm photography. Shooting at a 15mm angle isn't for everyone, but if you're a fan of an ultra-wide perspective, it's a lens to consider adding to your Nikon kit. The lens is impressively sharp in the center, but it's not perfect; the edges suffer unless you narrow the aperture, and there's quite a bit of barrel distortion at the 10mm focal length. Also, it's on the pricey side if you're the type of photographer who doesn't often shoot wide. There's no quibbling with the build quality. It's as solid as other modern Nikkor lenses with a metal lens mount and a tough polycarbonate barrel, with rubberized rings for manual focus and zoom adjustment. The 10-24mm itself is rather squat and wide, measuring about 3.4 by 3.3 inches (HD). It weighs in at just over a pound and...

  • Ultra-wide field of view

Cons:

Wonderful lens for landscape photography

My interest is primarily landscape work. This Nikon wide angle zoom lens gives me a new level of creativity and flexibility in my photography. I use this lens currently with a Nikon D-90 but I will be adding a new Nikon D-7100 body soon. This lens is great for that camera also.
Pros:
  • Image quality is extremely good
Cons:
  • no complaints at this point

Nikon AF-S DX Nikkor 10-24mm f3.5-4.5G ED

Nikon's 10-24mm f3.5-4.5 is a new super-wide-angle zoom for DX-format Nikon bodies (ie, not full-frame). Its 2.4x zoom range offers an equivalent focal length of 10-36mm, which is pretty much state of the art right now. The extra zoom range is important.
