Nikon AF-S Fisheye Nikkor 8-15mm f/3.5-4.5E ED

A fisheye zoom isn't a lens you're going to use every day, or even every month. But it's a fun tool to have in your bag, especially if you shoot weddings or do a lot of travel photography.

Fisheye zoom design; Capable of full circular capture; Crisp images; Fluorine lens coat

Hood must be removed for circular imaging; Expensive

REVIEW: Nikon AF-S FISHEYE NIKKOR 8-15mm f/3.5-4.5E ED Review

Although fisheye lenses are of a specialised nature, clearly there is a demand as there are so many available, at all price levels. However, there are very few fisheye zooms and even fewer lenses that offer the choice of a circular 180-degree image or a full frame 180-degree on the diagonal image.

Nikon comes thru again!

Incredible lens and Crutchfield's wonderful customer service comes thru once again. This lens is versatile and produces great shots. Just wish it had a lower f stop for low lighting.

Incredible shots both fish eye and wide angled

Be great if it had a lower f stop

Wonderful Lens, Great New Perspectives

I used this lens on a shoot recently where the subject was dashboard instrument panels inside cars from the 1950's. The results were fantastic, rendering dynamic perspective to the gauges, bezels and knobs, adding interest and character to the compositions that would be otherwise quite flat through...

8-15mm OR 14-24mm - the Conundrum - OR not

Well, I read the reviews. Considered them. I have the 14-24mm, which is a brilliant lens - love it as wide angle is useful for me from landscape to interiors - brilliant. However, I missed my DX fisheye, also great on architecture and landscape when perfection was less of an issue and artistic flare...

Consistent Output; Durable; Easily Interchangeable; Lightweight; Quick Focus; Sharp Focus; Strong Construction

Nikon AF-S Fisheye Nikkor 8-15mm f/3.5-4.5E ED Review

Nikon shooters finally get what Canon owners have had for a few years now—a fisheye zoom lens with circular coverage at its widest angle. The AF-S Fisheye Nikkor 8-15mm f/3.5-4.5E ED ($1,249.95) matches the Canon EF 8-15mm f/4L Fisheye USM in price, function, and quality. It's expensive, but a solid choice for fans of fisheye images. However, if you're willing to give up the zoom capability and autofocus, and live with images that aren't as technically perfect, you can save a ton of money by opting for the $300 Lensbaby Circular Fisheye instead. Design The Nikkor 8-15mm ($1,246.95 at Amazon) is a squat lens with a bulging hemispherical front element. It measures 3.2 by 3.0 inches (HD) and weighs just over a pound. You can't use front filters with it, par for the course with fisheye designs, but rear filters are supported. Like other modern Nikkor lenses, the barrel is black polycarbonate with gold accents. A lens hood is included, along with front and rear caps, but you'll need t...
