Amazing performance in a Macro lens

This lens is very highly rated in terms of sharpness, and freedom from distortion (straight lines remain straight, not curved). In addition it is a macro lens (Nikkor refers to it as a micro) which means it has the ability to focus much more closely than a conventional lens, and also that the lenses...

Superb little macro lens

At 90mm equivalent, it also doubles as a half-decent portrait lens on DX bodies. The images it produces are as sharp as you could ever want, and it is just perfect for subjects that don't move much such as flowers or bees that are occupied with them.

Micro-Nikkor AF-S 60mm f/2.8 G ED (FX) - Review / Test Report

The Micro-Nikkor AF-S 60mm f/2.8 G ED is an excellent lens that delivers very sharp images straight from the maximum aperture down to f/11, where diffraction starts to reduce resolution. Typical for macro lenses it is practically free of distortion.

Great lens, sharp, fast, small and light. Bargain.

Amazingly sharp lens, and as others have said you do need to get very close when using on a full frame. I sold it in the end and brought a 105mm macro, i loved this lens on my crop sensor.

Nikon AF-S Micro-Nikkor 60mm f/2.8G ED Review

The Nikon AF-S Micro-Nikkor 60mm f/2.8G ED is a light, compact macro lens with a standard-angle field of view that delivers very sharp results. The Nikon AF-S Micro-Nikkor 60mm f/2.8G ED ($599.95) is a versatile lens that can serve as an everyday choice for fans of a standard-angle field of view, while also supporting close focus for 1:1 macro magnification. It's a solid performer, capturing images that are evenly crisp from edge to edge and free of distortion, but with a strong vignette that dims edges and corners at wider apertures. If you're in want of a macro of this focal legnth, it's an excellent choice, but not quite the equal of our Editors' Choice Tamron 90mm f/2.8 Di Macro VC USD ($689.00 at Amazon) , which has a slightly tighter angle of view, but is incredibly sharp in its own right and adds image stabilization. Dependable Nikkor quality and results!

I sold my Sigma 50mm f/1.4 Art lens in order to afford swapping to this Nikkor. The difference in focal length is negligible in practical use, but having the close focusing ability adds so much more to my kit. Focus is sharp from edge to edge, and the colors are true to rest of Nikons lens line.
