Absolutely Fantastic

This is the sharpest camera lens I have ever owned. The tiny feather details it captures on birds is astounding. I am using it coupled with small pixel bodies with no anti-aliasing filter (D500 or D850) and I am repeatedly thrilled to bird with it.

Everything its meant to be

Traded in my 600 G series for this lighter and better balanced lens. It is so noticable from the minute I picked it up with a D5 attached. I can't shoot without a tripod, but travel is that much easier, The optical quality is a step up as well, and focus is faster and quieter.

Great for DX format cameras

If you shoot with a DX body and need a good zoom, this lens is even better. The cropped sensor adds an astounding zoom to the original 600mm, making wild life photography easy while staying hundreds of feet away from the subject where you are less likely to spook it.

Wonderful Clarity

Recently purchase the new Nikkor 600mm f/4E, FL, ED, VR Prime Lens and I love it. The clarity of the pictures coupled with a very fast focus make it a wonderful nature lens. Even with the reduced weight it is still a large and heavy lens, but I have been able to use it free hand on many outings.

Clarity; Auto Focus; Quality of build

Heavy, I found it susceptible to moisture; I had the front glass fog up on the inside the lens slightly after indirect exposure to damp conditions for about 20 minutes; It cleared up withing 20 minutes at home; I have not had this issue with other lens.

Superb upgrade !

I have upgraded to this lens from the 500 f/4 G ED VR lens as now the weight is much more useable than the older 600 F4 On my first couple of days use after micro adjusting this lens is everything you would expect in terms of focus speed and sharpness.
