Just not fast enough.
The lens is just not fast fast enough with my autofocus. Except for the wide angle setting, most every other focal length goes to f/5.6 right away. Disappointed.
Pros:
- None for me
Cons:
- Even in good lighting
- the 200-300 focal length range did not provide sharpe photographs

Great lens
Went on a safari and used this as my only lens. The only drawback is the f-stop when used in early dawn or dusk. Otherwise, the quality of the pictures are excellent and was able to use it in almost all situations.
Pros:
- Fast / accurate auto-focus
- Rugged
- Strong Construction
Cons:
- Poor in Low Light

Great Buy
Great multiple-purpose lens. The following is one hundred characters required for an eBay review. Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their country.

Nikkor 28-300mm fx, VRII lens
I use the lens on my Nikon D800 camera. When I first purchased the camera I also included the 50mm, f1.4 prime lens which I used extensively. All my other lenses are DX lenses which significantly reduce the censor's area.
Pros:
- Easily Interchangeable
- Fast / accurate auto-focus
- Nice Bokeh
- Rugged
- Strong Construction
Cons:
- Heavy

Jack of all trades; master of most
I bought this after some soul searching, and with the WEX 28 day money back guarantee in mind. I had a Nikon D70 and bought the 18-200 VR for it. The resultant combination eight years ago gave me an ideal, flexible combo for travel photography.
Pros:
- Durable
- Great Features
- Great Picture Quality
- Versatile
Cons:
- Heavy Bulky
