Nikon 17-35mm f/2.8D ED-IF AF-S Nikkor review by dw_js
I originally purchased the lens to use on a D2x. It was great then because I didn't get to see the edges of the image circle......fast forward to a D700 and the edges are soft. I can't stop down enough to get rid of the softness.
Pros:
- built well
Cons:
- soft corneres
- CA

Okay so I've never had the real money to actually buy it so each time I've rented the lens. Perhaps the fact that it was a rental could have effected the outcome of my images, but at this point, lets assume that I had actually bought it.
Pros:
- Produces good image quality, Contrary to what other people believe, I think the weight is really nice
- Gives my camera a center of mass and balance
Cons:
- Terrible auto focus
- I don't know what 17-35 you're using because this one's auto focus is horrendous

good product
This lens has replaced my 18-70 DX lens (which is smaller and lighter) from my starter kit. This beast is quite big and heavy: have to search for a bigger photo bag. However, quality of image, focusing and build quality is excellent.
Pros:
- good product
Cons:
- nothing

Love my new lens
I love this lense because I can get the whole picture. I use to try and back up but sometimes you can only back up so much then you are cropping things out of the pictures that you really want there. That wont happen any more with this lense.
Pros:
- Quick Focus
- Rugged
- Sharp Focus
- Strong Construction
- Wide Angle
Cons:
- Heavy

Nikon Wide Angle Zoom - Nikon AF-S Zoom Nikkor 17-35mm f/2.8D IF-ED
The center sharpness of this lens is amazing and performs well at all apertures. It is a fantastic wide angle zoom option for full frame shooters but also a popular option for wedding photographers who shoot with crop sensor cameras (with autofocus motors).

almost new but dust particle inside
Used item described as clean almost new, in fact looks and feels like new, but there is a big pet-hair-like particle inside rear element. Too bad because it really seems to work like new.

I just got mine from vistek. Perfect lens for PJ. Expensive, but you get what you pay.

As a Nikon user, when Canon was producing full frame digital cameras and Nikon was spouting the advantages the APS sensor as a reason for not producing a full frame camera, you knew the full frame was going to come. SO, I didn't want to buy a lens that would be limited to the DX format.
Pros:
- great zoom range
- build quality
- fast
Cons:
- soft corners
- soft corners
- distortion
