Welded to my DSLR
To me the mark of a great lens is a lens that you wind up using a lot. The AF-S 17-35mm is such a lens. I bought mine in 1999--19 years ago! I moved to it from the fine 20-35, looking to it for a wider angle and a closer close focus. I have never been disappointed with those features.
Great for interior architectural and landscapes
I've been using this lens with my D200, D300, D300S, D3 and now my D850 for a total of 11 years and remain satisfied with its performance. This camera has produced some of my favorite landscape photos as well as making some photos for an interior decorator possible. It's high quality and versatile.
almost new but dust particle inside
Used item described as clean almost new, in fact looks and feels like new, but there is a big pet-hair-like particle inside rear element. Too bad because it really seems to work like new.
Nikon Wide Angle Zoom - Nikon AF-S Zoom Nikkor 17-35mm f/2.8D IF-ED
The center sharpness of this lens is amazing and performs well at all apertures. It is a fantastic wide angle zoom option for full frame shooters but also a popular option for wedding photographers who shoot with crop sensor cameras (with autofocus motors).
A+, spectacular wide angle lens = stunning images
As a professional photographer I carry a wide array of lenses with me, but this one is truly one of my favorites! I love wide angle zoom lenses because of their ability to capture the overall scene and give the viewer an overview of what is happening and this one does exactly that.- Durability
- f 2.8 aperture
- Quiet AF
- Ease of use
- Allows for great pictures on virtually any camera

Nikon 17-35mm f/2.8D ED-IF AF-S Nikkor review by dw_js
I originally purchased the lens to use on a D2x. It was great then because I didn't get to see the edges of the image circle......fast forward to a D700 and the edges are soft. I can't stop down enough to get rid of the softness.- built well
- soft corneres

Must have landscape lens!
I have many Nikkor lenses. This has to be the sharpest I have. Fantastic for landscape!! I see this lens as my go to for a lot of applications. I was worried about the size but not as big as my 24-70 2.8.
Fantastic Lens!
I got this lens because I wanted to switch to all f/2.8 lenses for my wedding photography. I had the 16-35mm f/4 VR lens, but quite frankly I don't think the VR gave me any value for shooting wedding action shots.- Consistent Output
- Durable
- Fast / accurate auto-focus
- Rugged
- Strong Construction
Awesome Lens
Pros: Fast / accurate auto-focus, Durable, Consistent Output, Strong Construction, Nice Bokeh Cons: Heavy Other thoughts: I have been looking for an all-purpose lens to go with my Nikon D300S, and this seems to be the one.
