Excellent little macro!
I picked up a used 60mm D on eBay last year, and though I also own the 105 VR and intend to get the 200mm micro, I am loving this 60D lens on my Df. I thought about the G version, and I have both G and D lenses in my kit.

Amazing Macro Lens - A Must Have
This is a must have macro lens. And it is just that, a macro lens, although it can be used for general and portrait use as well. So I'm going to limit my comments to what it does well and not worry about things like the aperture ring which is a non-issue but freaks out some less experienced users.

Nikon 60mm f/2.8D AF Micro Nikkor
This is the sharpest lens I have. It is excellent everywhere with only slightly softer corners at f2.8. It is excellent at infinity and brilliant at macro. Solid, it is a bit old fashioned in operation, but is very usable and a favourite of mine.
Pros:
- Very
- very sharp at all apertures
Cons:
- Method of changing from autofocus to manual focus

One of Nikon's most affordable Macro lenses
The Nikon 60mm f/2.8 macro lens is a fantastic choice for those who like to get right up close to their subject. This lens is ideal for those who like to shoot textures (plants, flowers, still life, etc).

I had been wanting to add Macro capabilities to my repetoire of compositions for some time now. What I hadn't bargained for was a deadly sharp 90mm F2.8 equivalent portrait lens, when used on my digital body.
Pros:
- Incredibly sharp
- detailed well saturated images produced
Cons:
- A little slow to focus in AF

Nikon AF 60mm f/2.8D Review
This well-built Nikon lens should stand up to most rigorous handling. Offering a full-frame imaging circle, the lens offers the equivalent of 90mm on Nikon's DX-format digital cameras.
Pros:
- Outstanding sharpness
- good build
Cons:
- Slowish switch between manual and AF
