Nikkor AF 20mm f/2.8 D - Review / Test Report

The build quality of the lens is very good and in line with most moderately priced Nikkors. The outer barrel is made of good quality polycarbonate combined with a metal mount. The small rubberized focus ring operates very smooth.

Great product

The whole thing cam in a carrying bag and the muslin chroma key green was in a plastic storage bag. It was easy and quick to set up and figure out. The green screen was easy to set up and I was taking my first shots in about 10 mins. Would have been sooner if I had figured out a couple things.

Coming from Leica and Olympus film cameras, I'm used to 21mm lenses that are quite a bit smaller than this one. It's only small in comparison with modern bloated zooms, which I won't carry around at all. Nevertheless, it's the sharpest W/A I've ever had, especially at f4.

Sharp, sharp, sharp; Very flare resistant

Larger than it needs to be; in my opinion

Super Lens, Great Value

As a nature photographer, this lens is a 'must have for my bag. It is one of the lightest lenses you will find, anywhere (270g), it is extremely sharp, and (best of all) you can buy a Nikon BR-2A adapter+ a BR-5, flip the lens around, and use it for super-macro photography (3.4x), giving you...

Small, light, wide

Nice lens! I've had my copy since the late 90s. (bought it to go wide with an F100). About all it can't do that the newer 20mms can is open up a couple of more stops, a bit more acutance, and you don't want to point it right at the sun (coatings are better these days) It has a minor amount of barrel...

Sharpness of a prime lens with the convenience of a zoom + light weight!

I bought the Nikkor 20-35mm last year on ebay because I needed an "event" lens as I like to say. I was hired to shoot some special events and a wedding too and all I had for a pro lens was a Nikkor 50mm 1.4....a great, great lens, but really difficult to shoot an entire event with.

Ultimate Affordable Ultra Wideangle

If you haven't already figured it out, I'm a Nikon fan. I only have Nikon lenses for my Nikon bodies

A great versatile ultra wide angle

Vignetting is sometimes a problem

This is my first super wide fix focal length lens. In the short time that I have had it, it has produced stunning results. The image comes through crisp and clear. The colors are outstanding. I brought this lens with me to photograph Italy, and all I can say is, wow.

* Crisp clear results; * Colors are great; * Little to no image distortion

* No lens hood
