Whether it’s still photography, or video, the Nikon D850 promises stunning results, due to a dazzling combination of features that make this one of the best-reviewed cameras in the DSLR market.
Extraordinary Resolution
Nikon describes the resolution as "extraordinary", and the dynamic range as "outstanding". With a 45.7-megapixel full frame sensor, it seems these superlatives are justified, and the Nikon D850 can be seen as a big step up from other top-end cameras in the Nikon stable.
Fast And Focused
The D850 has some impressive performance statistics as well, with up to nine frames per second of continuous shooting, at full resolution and with full AF performance.
4K UHD Video
This is video footage for the new age, thanks to the camera's 4K Ultra High Definition recording capabilities.
Incredible Time Lapse
Time-lapse is a feature being built into more and more cameras, particularly at this end of the market, and the D850 is no exception, with 8K and 4K time-lapse movies promising sharper, more detailed results than ever before.
Broad Developments
There are developments in pretty much every area, jumping ahead of its predecessors in Nikon's 800 stable to make this a much sought-after camera for serious photographers. Nikon talk about "remarkable advancements across the board", including sensor design, dynamic range, shutter and mirror-drive mechanisms, Silent-Photography in Live-View mode, and, crucially, battery life.

The Best I have ever used.
I have used many Nikon cameras over the years starting with a D3, D300, D800e, D500 and most recently a D5 and have no doubt that the D850 is the best of all! It combines most of the D5s features, exceeds the resolution of the previous D800 serious, gives great battery life, 7 fp, and the most...- Durable
- Great Features
- Great Picture Quality
- Simple Controls
Absolutely top class. Owned since December 2017. Previous owners of the D610, D750 and D810. The D750 had a more beautiful grip than the D810, but the D810 was technically superior to the D750. The D850 is a combination of them both but filled with the absolute newest.

Best DSLR
The fiver matches DPReview's Gold Award for the best DSLR money can buy...and this is not even Nikon's flagship model. On my lowly Nikon 50mm f1.8 AF it proves to be the sharpest lens in my inventory, easily beats out the 105mm Micro -Nikkor VR which I rented to test because I already have a 55...- SHARP

D850
Greatest Nikon dslr. Every scenic situation is taken by this camera with exelence . I have not interest in video. I think that at my age (70), this is it. Not interested in mirrorless, it feels strange, I feel Im looking at a tiny TV, but that its just me.Been shooting Nikon since Nikormat, so I...
The Gold Standard of DSLR Cameras
As a professional photographer and Nikon user for many years the D850 high dynamic range, outstanding resolution of the 45.7MP sensor, high frame rate and the excellent build quality makes the D850 Nikon's most advanced DSLR camera to date. A work of technical genius!.
I purchased this camera body as an upgrade from my D810. Since I purchased it just recently, I cannot provide a comprehensive look at the camera yet. However, having taken nearly 1000 "practice" shots to learn how things work with my lenses, I can say that photos are even sharper than with the D810,...
