Nikon D5 XQD
The Nikon D5 XQD is Nikon's flagship camera and a dream camera for many professionals. It comes with two memory card options: dual XQD slots and dual CompactFlash slots. An authorised Nikon dealer can switch the memory configuration in case you decide to change.
The imaging capabilities are advanced and powered by the new EXPEED 5 processor that's 25% more energy efficient than the previous EXPEED 4 processor found on the predecessor D4S. Nikon D5 sports a 20.8MP FX CMOS sensor. The autofocus really stands out with 153 AF points.
An alternative camera is Nikon D500 that contains many of the features in D5 XQD, but retails at a lower price point.

Nikon D5
The D5 is Nikon's latest flagship professional DSLR, sitting right at the top of its line-up and representing an upgrade from 2014's D4S. It's no surprise to see Nikon announcing a new camera in this year with big sporting tournaments, especially the Olympics, on the horizon.
Nice upgrade from the D4 / D4s for those who need the speed
The D3 / D3S was a game changer. The D4 / D4s gave me better AF and better resolution. The D5 has better AF, resolution and ISO, 1.5 stops better than my D4. Looking forward to the firmware upgrade I recommend going for the XQD version, for the speed
Had the camera for a few months now. It's big and heavy, but definitely worth dropping by. The battery lasts forever. The camera always catch what you point it at. Awesome good camera! Sure it costs. But according to me who runs his own right it is a good investment.
Nikon D5 review: Olympic effort from pro DSLR
It's no mistake that both Nikon D5 and Canon EOS 1D X Mark II have arrived in 2016. It's an Olympic year after all, with pro sports photographers seeking next-level kit to take next-level images in Rio.- New autofocus system is insanely good
- super-fast 12fps burst with decent buffer innings
- detail at high ISO settings is incredible
- epic battery life
- The "Hi" ISO settings are roughly pointless
- some odd auto white balance decisions in mixed lighting
- continuous shooting undercut by Canon 1DX II
Nikon D5 review
Let's not sugarcoat it; the D5 is a niche camera. Even if you've got the cash to splash, it doesn't mean you should - it makes sense in the hands of a pro photographer, but beginners will be lost.- No light? No problem
- Super-fast shooting
- Built like a tank
- What the hey
- 4K
- Where's the Wi-Fi
Nikon D5
The Nikon D5 captures excellent images, but its 20.8-megapixel sensor trades low ISO dynamic range for excellent high ISO performance. What it doesn't compromise on is autofocus and speed with 153 AF points and 12fps continuous shooting for up to 200 images, respectively.- Excellent image quality
- Excellent high ISO performance
- Fast 153-point autofocus system
- Fast continuous shooting speeds
- 4K video recording
- Pro-quality camera body
- Outstanding battery life
- Large and heavy body might not be right for all
- Loud shutter
- Underutilized touchscreen
- Low ISO dynamic range not as good as predecessor
- Extended high ISOs not very useful
- Sluggish Live View AF
At first the D5 looks and feel like a D4 - or a D3, D2 etc, but in reality the D5 is from a whole different generation. The latest autofocus is extraordinary. In 3D continuous mode, I'm getting a rejection rate of about 1% shooting sports with a 300mm f4 PF ED attached!

- Nothing to complain about
