Nikon Coolpix S1000pj Review
The bottom line is that you could spend as much (or maybe even less) on a camera that takes better images in low light. You could find a camera at a lower price point that offers greater control over image quality or features a much bigger zoom range. But you won't have a built-in projector.
Pros:
- Minimal distortions
- Sharp lens
- Good images overall
Cons:
- Noise at ISO 400
- Poor video quality
- Cost

Review: Nikon COOLPIX S1000pj
When Nikon released the S1000pj, we were stoked about having a projector grafted to a traditional digital camera. When we put it to the test, the camera did a decent job but was definitely, ahem, outshone by its luminous counterpart.
Pros:
- The projector feature is Yuri Gagarin-stellar
- Pictures were pretty good in most situations without having to adjust a lot of settings
Cons:
- Low-light pictures are a struggle, especially if the ISO has to be raised
- Camera is heavy and bulky
- Novel feature means early adopter price tag

At a time when all – or almost all – compacts have a 5x zoom, a 12 Mpx sensor, a 6.9 cm (2.7") or 7.6 cm (3") display screen, and similar size and cost, it's getting hard
Pros:
- Original concept –video projector
- Clear interface and menus
- Comes with remote control
Cons:
- Disappointing image quality
- lacks sharpness and sensitivity, Video is low-definition
- no optical zoom in video mode, Looks a little clunky

Good camera, projector is a novelty
At 12+ Mpxls this camera takes nice pictures and better than decent video. The lure of the built in projector is a nice idea, but in reality you need a good, dark room, a very stable mount or table top for the camera & a bright white background to use the projector with any decent results.
