The world’s first projector camera â€" yes, that's right â€" it takes pics and then it projects. It's not about pixel count or optical zoom, it's about taking pics and then being able to beam them directly onto your wall.

It is probably safe to start this review by saying that the Nikon Coolpix S1000pj is the one with the projector. A bold move by Nikon, perhaps, launching a device that mashes together the trend for pico projectors with a regular 12-megapixel camera.

- A little more bulky than rivals
- you pay a bit more too
- so you really need to see the benefits

The bottom line is that you could spend as much (or maybe even less) on a camera that takes better images in low light. You could find a camera at a lower price point that offers greater control over image quality or features a much bigger zoom range. But you won't have a built-in projector.
