Nikon Coolpix P6000

Boasting a built-in GPS receiver and Ethernet connectivity, this 13.5-megapixel camera is surprisingly compact. When not in use, the P6000 fits nicely into a very small shirt pocket or purse.

I bought the Nikon P6000 to replace my Fuji Finepix E-900, which, unfortunately, I lost. I have several Nikons, including a D2x, so I thought I'd try Nikon's pricey compact for my "carry everywhere" camera.
Pros:
  • Cute and full featured
Cons:
  • Cute and full featured mean nothing in a poor quality product
  • I can find nothing to recommend in this camera
  • It's even a lousy GPS unit

Nikon CoolPix P6000 review

The P6000, like Canon's G10, is aimed at photography enthusiasts who want something small and light for times when an SLR isn't appropriate. It looks suitably classy, feels durable and has a rubber handgrip that fits snugly in the hand.

I bought this camera for the GPS. It's useless. I can synch my iPod Touch in five seconds indoors to GPS. I have yet to be able to do so with this camera. Photos are excellent, but I already had good cameras. I wanted to use this for iPhoto with it's Places capability, no luck so far.

Nikon Coolpix P6000

Geotagging photos-placing them on a map in the spot where you took them-has always had trade-offs. In the early days, it meant dropping pictures manually onto a digital map. Lately, it's meant relying on Wi-Fi triangulation (which doesn't follow you everywhere, as GPS does) or toting cumbersome...
Pros:
  • Good image quality
  • Ethernet port allows for speedy transfer of RAW images
  • Versatile wide-angle 4X lens
  • Sharp bright LCD display,
Cons:
  • Large and heavy
  • Mediocre image stabilization
  • Sluggish shot-to-shot speeds
  • Weak GPS receiver,

Nikon Coolpix P6000

The Nikon Coolpix P600 contains a GPS receiver inside of it. This geotags your photos. The problem is, however, geotagging the photos can be a bit of a difficult task and the image quality seems poor.

Nikon COOLPIX P6000

On paper the P6000 promises a lot, but in reality it doesn't live up to its full potential, ultimately hampered by poor implementation of headline feature

excellent

Really pleased with this which is a supplement to my 'Big Nikon'. Quality and features are nearly as good for most purposes. Only quibbles are - the GPS signal seems very weak and if it was a shade thinner would be more portable for pockets and carry-ons.

The Nikon P6000 was onto my list since release in 2008, i've bought it back into 2013 or 2014 (can't remember currently) for just 100 bucks (NOS almost), the full retail package with 4 new extra Nikon spare Batteries.
