On paper, it's surprising that NieR Automata even exists. The original game didn't really sell that well and only became a critical darling after its release. Its bizarre concepts didn't really feel like they would lend themselves well to a sequel.

Graphics look unpolished The DLC code didnt work(for me) And the global store kept messing the delivery up All in all it was good game - the story gets anime-ish "and" overdramatic at times, freeroam feels funny but the combat is fun - many enemy types to mess with, etc, etc.
The original NieR flew under so many people's radars that most don't even know of its existence. It was this strange JRPG-like character action game with some eclectic characters, a strange world and a story that required you to play through the game multiple times before you really got the full...
The narrative is incredibly unique and engaging | Combat is fast-paced and varied | You'll learn to love the characters through all the playthroughs | Interesting world to explore and get to know intimately | Wonderful soundtrack | Genre-defying variation
No ability to mark an active quest; which makes navigating confusing | Visuals could have used a little work
NeiR: Automata has a high risk of being looked over just because of all the other large titles that came through early on this year. However, if you find yourself with any breaks, or if you're a fan of a great action game with polished combat, make sure not to overlook Automata .
If you're a fan of the Drakengard games or Nier, this is a must buy game. If you're a fan of Platinum Games, you need to get this. The action combat is the best in any rpg, and the story is crazy like all games that have Yoko Taro involved in development.
While an improbably slight ingenue dressed in fetish gear and wielding a massive sword isn't exactly pioneering territory for a Japanese video game, there is still something compelling about 2B, the warrior android you play as in .
Got this game a few weeks ago & very happy that I did. Good combat & Great Open world to run around in with lot of side quests to do
We don't get games like Nier: Automata too often. And by that I mean games that simultaneously weave a deeply harrowing existentialist narrative, in addition to playing with our expectations on how we play games. There's nothing else around like Nier: Automata (except for maybe its predecessor).
After a few stumbles with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Star Fox Zero , it seems joining up with Square Enix and the eccentric director Yoko Taro ( Nier , Drakengard series) has ignited a return to form for Platinum Games.
This game is for now the best game of 2017 for me. It cannot by described as one genre. Automata is jrpg/slasher/bullet hell/quasi sandbox. It's fun to play. And soundtrack is incredilbe and awesome! Unfortunate game little lacks in graphic department but overall is good.
