New Gundam Breaker (PS4)

★★★★★ 2.0
Verdict: Have you ever dreamed of building your own Gundam model and fighting it out with other builders Well, I haven't particularly dremt about that either, but it's a massively entertaining idea.

New Gundam Breaker Review – Wonky Toy Box Blues

★★★★★ 2.8
Verdict: I was never a model builder. Neither the patience nor the funds required held any appeal for me. While I was somewhat fascinated by the finished product, the process involved in getting there was less compelling.
Pros:
  • Models and parts look terrific
  • Combat is accessible and fast-paced
  • Creating your own models is engrossing
Cons:
  • Final product is turbo glitchy
  • Storyline is crazy dull and predictable
  • Single player campaign either repetitive or short

New Gundam Breaker Review – Gundam Broken

★★★★★ 2.0
Verdict: The history of Gundam games has had its ups and downs (mostly downs). It seems like making a game that draws from the enormous history of the Gundam franchise would be easy. There are hundreds of pre-existing designs to use and characters to draw on, but it seems like capturing the feel of piloting...
Pros:
  • It actually came out in the West
  • Some players will be happy that you don't have to deal with combining parts anymore
Cons:
  • You can't hit downed enemy mobile suits
  • There's too much going on in missions now with tons of boring side quests
  • Controls are laggy compared to Gundam Breaker 3
  • Visuals feel downgraded

Buy Gundam Breaker 3 instead.

★★★★★ 2.0
Verdict: A substantial downgrade of it's predecessor and it is incredibly short and each mission is pretty much copy and paste with a few adjustments. The performance is down right unacceptable as it freezes frequently and the story is so high school drama it is sad and underwhelming.

Shining Finger Bored - New Gundam Breaker Review

★★★★★ 1.8
Verdict: Between fumbling through the menus, mashing your way to a choppy and exceedingly easy victory, and clicking through meandering dialogue scenes that hold no weight, you'll find yourself too bored to actually collect all the parts you want to make your perfect Gundam.
Pros:
  • Deep customization
Cons:
  • Terribly frame rate
  • Boring gameplay
  • Sacrifices deep themes for high school drama
