The switch does its job. Delivers gigabit speed in a small metal case. The version I received supports jumbo packets, full duplex and auto-uplink. I purchased the GS108 and the GS105 and they both perform well. The switch would be appropriate for business use because of the solid construction.
Rugged metal construction; small profile; runs cool for gigabit switch; ease of setup
Some may prefer plastic cases with cables in back
The sales staff was great they listened to my needs and picked this one for me. It works Great, does everything I was looking for and gives me the speed I was very concerned about keeping. It is small and can easily be mounted out of the way on the wall on the back of a desk or filling cabinet,.
Design; Easy to Use; Performance; Quiet
Expensive
If youre a Windows user or have network access to at least one physical Windows box for installing and using the configuration app, which is an Adobe AIR app btw, the extra features make this a no brainer for people that could easily make use of them.
Switch is small, compact, and has VERY sturdy metal housing; By the mass of it alone, feels substantial in my hand compared to another metal-housed but lighter dumb switch like my TRENDnet.
Front mount ports are a little annoying if youre pairing these with switches with rear-mounted ports since they put the power input jack on the back; They could have easily put it on one of the sides with a tight-fitting 90 degree input jack so that it didnt ugly up your desktop.
I have this switch installed between my router and ADSL bridge. I can now run Bit Torrent at full throttle and use my Vonage VOIP adapter at the same time with no problems. If you're watching the Torrent client while using the phone you can see the upload bandwidth automatically drop when the phone...
Nicely priced; compact; easy to install; and easy to set up.
The ports and lights are on the same side which means this switch is intended for a rack rather than a home install; For me this is insignificant to the benefits of the QoS features this switch offers
I have these switches in various configurations (5, 8, etc port) in decently harsh manufacturing environments, and they've been rock solid. They're built tough, and have minimal footprint. Plus they're gigabit! They are great unmanaged switches for adding ports to your network in a pinch.
Good solid switch. Good build quality.
This is a replacement for Netgear Wireless G router WGR614 which is easily hacked by thieves. Plugged the device in and gained instant access to the Internet. The software on CD is recommended and installs on Windows 7.0 with no problem.
I needed more ports than my Verizon FIOS router provided, and adding this NetGear GS105 Ethernet Switch was a perfect solution. Its ease of installation, and network performance were great, and it fit the sweet spot in the price /performance/company reliability curve.
Been around for a long time for a reason, easy and works better than expected.
