Need for Speed Shift for PS3 Review

System Availability Need for Speed Shift is available for the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 systems. The last time there was a NFS game where you were on tracks was Need for Speed Pro Street, and I missed the street racing action of the original.

Great graphics; Lots of customization; Online racing

No police chases

Test Need For Speed Shift

Need for Speed Shift Review

For years, the Need for Speed franchise reigned as the king of driving games. Installments like Hot Pursuit 1 and 2 , Underground 1 and 2 , and Most Wanted helped the series become a multi-platform dynasty.

a more "European" racer is your cup of tea and; even if it's done you wrong; you're read to give NFS another chance

racing is just a bunch of guys going in circles; cars are for transporation and "Top Gear" is where you keep your mountain bike

In trying to offer something for everyone, this jack-of-all-trades racing game is unlikely to completely satisfy anybody.

Need for Speed: Shift is a racing game that tries to do a lot of things, and the good news is that it does most of them well. The bad news is that Shift does very little that other racers haven't done before it, and it excels at nothing.

Makes a point of rewarding you; regardless of your driving style; Very good assortment of tracks; Sense of speed borders on scary at times

Default controls are overly sensitive; Modest car selection; Drifting events are prohibitively difficult; Career mode is very bare-bones; Online play rewards other drivers for spinning you out

Need for Speed Shift UK Review

Eau Rouge, Pouhon and Blanchimont; the holy trinity of corners that form the backbone of Belgium's Spa Francorchomps, long recognised as one of the greatest tracks in modern-day use, and have bloodied many a nose in the past.

Need for Speed: SHIFT

Need for Speed: SHIFT is the latest installment of the long-running Need for Speed series and has the level of graphics one would expect of such a mature series. The environments look great and the cars look stunning; especially the Chrome finish paints.

Need for Speed Shift (PS3) Review

Need for Speed Shift attempts to take the NFS franchise in a new direction by incorporating simulation-style gameplay and circuit tracks instead of the tuned street cars and illegal street racing of the previous entries.

Need for Speed: Shift

A mystery wrapped in an enigma surrounded by fog and anonymity. That's what Need For Speed: Shift has been, for the first hour or so of gameplay. But after enough time spent in the game, I am pleased to say that Shift is an excellent racer, one worthy of much praise, and little remorse.

Need For Speed: Shift (PS3)

When EA announced the direction for their next Need For Speed racing game, I'll admit I was a little concerned with their aim to focus on the ‘racing experience' and tilt the overall theme of the game towards more of a simulation approach, while still retaining the ‘jump in and race' arcade feeling...

Need For Speed: Shift

Shift certainly isn't perfect nor is it as realistically accurate as it wants to be. What it does do, however, is make you almost feel the g-forces of racing and encapsulates that adrenaline rush like no other game of its genre – this alone makes it essential for racing fans.
