I must say, this is one of the best games in the NFS series. There are a ton of cars to unlock and tons of customizations for the cars on both sides -- racer and cop. Online play is a great. You can choose to complete your assignments or to engage in pursuits.

Per other reviews, graphics really are subpar - although the thunderstorm I drove it seemed real. I hate that they literally force you to go through two introductory sessions and you can't just jump in and race.

This game is amazing. The lag sometimes drops you out of the game for some random reason, but if you have good internet you won't have that problem. Still, the pros outweigh the cons. Read the review by Vlad for more information.

Low on innovation but high on spectacle, as the cumulation of the last several years of Need For Speed games the first entry on the next gen is already one of the best.

Plot Need For Speed games are well known for being fairly brainless affairs, with the fast-paced racing action taking precedent over any semblance of a storyline. Being the fourth of fifth title in the series I've played, I wasn't expecting anything of any substance and wasn't let down.

The cars look good

Need for Speed Rivals talks a good talk about letting players take on the role of the police or criminals. Problem is I do not feel much like an officer when playing the police in Need for Speed Rivals.

If you've played Hot Pursuit, this has a very similar feel to it. The diversity of landscape, challenges and races, and even the cars all feel very samey. I loved Hot Pursuit , so I'm not necessarily complaining, but I do believe that we deserve a bit more, given that this is the second generation...

If you like NFS Hot Pursuit and Most Wanted, you can enjoy Rivals. It's classic Need for Speed with cop pursuits and fast, expensive rides. The problem is that it feels like an incomplete game. Probably rushed for next gen console launches.
