NBA Jam: On Fire Edition Review

I think anyone who grew up playing games in the 90s would agree that NBA Jam is a classic. NBA franchises, mixed with over-the-top action and intense competition made the original NBA Jam a...

+ Classic Arcade Game play; + Tons of unlockable content; + Great value for the price

New controls take some getting used to, A.I; can be difficult on the easiest difficulty setting

NBA Jam: On Fire Edition

We feel bad for anyone who dropped $50 on last year's hollow NBA Jam resurrection , because even though it got a lot of core concepts right, the new On Fire Edition for Live Arcade is what we should've received in the first place - and for a fraction of the price, no less.

+ Polished presentation with great arcade gameplay that fixes last year's lousy A.I; + Plenty for the price; including online play

- You won't get a refund for the $50 you wasted on last year's version; ? Do you really want to play 90-plus games to get all the Gold medals

EA Sports NBA JAM

Let me preface this review with the following: outside of updated HD graphics, the control schemes and online multiplayer, Jam Wii and Jam HD are identical games. Because of this I will be spending my time with this review discussing Jam HD's control scheme and online functionality.

Online modes are great fun; Graphics are jaw dropping; It's NBA Jam...

Controls take some getting used to for vets; Lack of customizable control schemes; Why only one turbo button

NBA Jam: On Fire Edition

Additional animations and even deeper commentary by legendary NBA Jam announcer Tim Kitzrow are included and add to an overall great package. Those who felt burnt by last year's game can think of NBA Jam: On Fire Edition as EA's way of apologizing for it.

Open-ended Road Trip mode lets you play against teams in any order; Improved and enjoyable competitive and co-operative Online; Lots of varied ways to unlock additional content; Tag Mode gives you more control; Razzle-dazzles add another layer to the on-court madness

Overly reliant on alley-oops; Some cheap AI situations

NBA JAM: On Fire Edition (XBLA) Review

NBA Jam: On Fire Edition is the follow up to EA's relaunch of one of the greatest arcade sports franchises of all time. While again not being perfect On Fire Edition (OFE) is a solid second effort that corrects some of the problems the original title had last year.

Review: NBA Jam: On Fire Edition

NBA Jam: On Fire Edition offers enhanced gameplay, updated rosters, new legends, and maintains the old-school, over-the-top feel of the original NBA Jam . If you love arcade-style basketball, NBA Jam: On Fire Edition is right up your alley and is worth the download.

NBA Jam: On Fire Edition Review

Since we don't have any real NBA season of basketball to lean on right now (and judging by the behavioral patterns of both owners and players, we won't be getting one soon), we have to rely on other types of entertainment to get our fix.

NBA Jam

Some things never change. Over a decade after Midway's arcade basketball franchise faded from the limelight, EA Canada have faithfully restored NBA Jam for a new generation. The latest installment does just about everything you'd expect from a Jam game, retaining the fast-paced, jittery brand of...

NBA JAM

The back cover of NBA JAM states: "BOOMSHAKALAKA IS BACK!" I tend to agree. NBA JAM brings back so many wonderful memories. Super monster dunks, steals, big heads, Tim Kitzrow's voice, and getting on fire have all returned thanks to EA Sports.

NBA Jam

I loved NBA Jam back in the day. From playing it in the arcades to playing it at home, I played quite a bit of this crazy arcade basketball. I do admit I am not the biggest NBA follower, but the arcade fan in me loved the two-on-two style of play.
