The online game modes are trash. Mycareer has tons of bugs like no audience and random black screens. Archetypes for mycareer were clearly meant for esports and mypark balance, but there's no way to actually create an NBA superstar of your choosing.

Basketball is a sport that could have been designed to be played on games consoles. Those of us who inexplicably failed to grow to a height of 7 feet can forget about a career in the sport, but at least we can live out our fantasies via a tightly-clutched joypad.

As a middle-of-the-road basketball fan, so to speak, I'll admit that enjoyed NBA 2K16 immensely. The result of a large amount of fan feedback, 2K16 was critically and commercially lauded as one of the most complete sporting games in recent memory.

Every year I wonder how the NBA 2K series is possibly going to get better. Sport games are accustomed to drops in quality considering their annual nature, particularly when a series seems to be at its best for a number of years. I keep waiting for NBA 2K to have this drop.
