For the first time in quite a while, 2K Sports' NBA 2K franchise will have some competition -- not that the publisher needed any, as the series has shown steady improvement with each installment.

Some may accuse NBA 2K14 of not innovating enough this year, but the numerous little tweaks and changes have resulted in one of the finest basketball simulations in existence. I have never bothered with sports games probably because watching men run around chasing a ball seemed too tiring. That being said this game has opened my eyes to the enjoyment offered by a really well put together game.

At the moment, the title has no competition, after EA Sports has canceled the last few installments of its own NBA series, and that seems to have given the development team a chance to abandon the quest for major innovations.
