Motorola RAZR 40 Ultra (12GB RAM, 512GB, Infinite Black) - Brand New review

The Razr 40 Ultra has a winning combination of features including a huge 3.6-inch outer screen, a versatile camera system, powerful processor and is the thinnest flip on the market.

Largest cover screen on a flip (3.6in) that’s both high quality and actually useful, Huge and good looking 6.9in foldable internal screen with a very high 165Hz refresh rate, Thinnest of all flip-type foldable-screen phones available in Australia (15mm), Clever software that makes it easy to switch...

Battery life is reasonable but still may struggle to manage a full day under heavy use, Big outer screen is a fingerprint magnet

Motorola RAZR 40 Ultra (12GB RAM, 512GB, Infinite Black) - Brand New review

If you're in the market for a clamshell foldable then Motorola has created a shining new star in the Razr 40 Ultra – knocking even the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 out of orbit. But there are caveats: the inevitable screen crease, along with fingerprint smears and reflections, plus CPU throttling and...

Battery life lasts a day – decent considering capacity, Biggest cover display of any flip phone, Cover display is highly functional, Eye-catching and colourful design

Usual screen 'crease' and reflection issues, Battery life not great for power users, Cameras aren't spectacular, Can get incredibly hot

Motorola RAZR 40 Ultra (12GB RAM, 512GB, Infinite Black) - Brand New review

The Motorola Razr 40 Ultra represents the pinnacle of clamshell foldables in 2023 with a premium design, game-changing exterior display, great camera performance and solid everyday use. The battery might leave some wanting more, but for most people, this won’t be too much of a problem.

Premium clamshell foldable design, Genuinely useful 3.6-inch exterior display, Great camera performance from main 12MP sensor, Top-end 6.9-inch pOLED foldable display, You hate constantly unfolding a foldable: the 3.6-inch external display allows you to do more without unfolding the phone, from...

Battery could only last about a day, Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 is a year old, You need long battery life: The 3800mAh battery may be larger than its predecessor but it also has to power larger internal and external displays. As a result, the Razr 40 Ultra just about lasts all day but not much longer.

Motorola RAZR 40 Ultra (12GB RAM, 512GB, Infinite Black) - Brand New review

Motorola may have finally cracked it with the Razr 40 Ultra (Razr+), delivering a phone with a great display, battery life and software. The secondary display on the outside is surprisingly useful too.

Great display and software, Strong battery performance, Competitive price for the spec, Cover/exterior display is really useful

Camera results could improve, Wireless charging is slow

Motorola RAZR 40 Ultra (12GB RAM, 512GB, Infinite Black) - Brand New review

Flippin’ heck – Moto’s done it!

Fun, slim, lightweight design, Best-in-class cover screen, IP54 resistance and wireless charging make the cut

Cameras aren’t best-in-class, Less water-resistant than Z Flip 4, Pricier than competition

Motorola RAZR 40 Ultra (12GB RAM, 512GB, Infinite Black) - Brand New review

Back into the fold. Motorola have set out to finally bring foldables into the mainstream. The Razr+ has a new and improved folding mechanism, a huge cover screen - and it finally supports wireless charging.

high-quality case, stable and flexible hinge, wireless charging, decent runtimes, big and bright cover display, good location features, eSIM compatible, comparatively lightweight and handy

expensive, high temperature increase, significant throttling under load, lack of premium features such as WiFi 7, difficult to open with hand

Motorola RAZR 40 Ultra (12GB RAM, 512GB, Infinite Black) - Brand New review

I have been a stalwart for the Google phones for a long time. I started with the HTC Desire, had a few Nexus devices and then the Pixel line. As a reviewer I have been lucky to have access to plenty of devices but for the first time I am actually torn.
