Motorola RAZR review

Motorola's latest flagship dual-core Android monster is a massive, original powerhouse, that's a big improvement on previous MOTOBLUR mobiles – but still isn't a total winner.

Motorola Razr 2 V8 mobile phone

Style has always been a key factor in the Razr proposition, so you might reasonably expect the Razr 2 V8 to offer an exciting new take on the line – or perhaps add some genuinely cutting-edge functionality. Sure, it's undeniably thin, but there's really nothing here we haven't seen before.

Motorola Razr review

The Motorola Razr is a solid device that manages to cover all the bases well, and doesn't sacrifice much in its quest for thinness. The battery life may be a cause of worry for some, but Smart Actions can compensate somewhat.

Motorola Razr 2 V8 mobile phone

To say it's been difficult for Motorola to follow up the massive hit of the Razr V3 with something better is an understatement. Since its release to the sounds of jaws dropping in mid-2004, the Razr has gone from high-end must-have to mass-market. Now comes the Razr 2 V8, billed as the next-gen V3.

Motorola Razr 2 V8 review: Motorola Razr 2 V8

Motorola has finally cracked it and made a slimmer Razr, with funky, easy-to-use menus, that measures just 12mm thick when shut. Our only niggles are that it lacks the solid feel of the original Razr, that the camera could be better and it could do with 3G, but we're glad to see that Motorola is finally back It's incredible to think that the Motorola Razr V3, one of the most important mobile phones ever to be produced, came out in 2004, particularly when you keep in mind that it's still selling well.
Pros:
  • Thin design
  • large external colour screen
  • vibrating feedback on the external touchscreen.
Cons:
  • Lack of 3G
  • no expandable memory card slot
  • 2-megapixel camera is dated.

Motorola MOTORAZR2 V8

The MOTORAZR2 V8 is a solid, but not outstanding handset. Its build quality and design are excellent though, ensuring it should be a head turner. The MOTORAZR2 V8 Luxury Edition without the...erm...Luxury, is a solid, but not outstanding handset. It will no doubt attract fans of the original RAZR, but with no real deal-clenching features to boast of, it won't be at the top of anyone's wish list.
Pros:
  • Build quality and design, touch-sensitive music controls, excellent dual displays, speed
Cons:
  • No real outstanding features, graphical menu interface, no 3.5mm headphone jack

Cracks

My rating might not match my comments - I absolutely love this phone (or did). I have been made aware of a hairline crack in the right hand side of my phone near the smart key. I have only had the phone for six months and have not dropped it. It does not have a mark on it.
