Motorola Moto Z2 Play review: Moto Z2 Play's battery will stay awake longer than you

The Moto Z3 Play is an actual real thing we've had our hands on! It arrives this summer for $499 with an extra battery pack.

Strong battery life, clever software and magnetic Mod add-ons make the Motorola Z2 Play a compelling midrange choice.

The Moto Z2 Play has a beautiful screen and all-day battery life; There’s expandable storage, lots of software tricks and even a headphone jack.

Its best software feature doesn’t always work; The phone feels wide and uncomfortable without a magnetic back cover, and not much better with covers that don’t fit well; Last year’s Z Play had much longer battery life.

Lenovo Moto Z2 Play Smartphone Review

Lenovo's Moto Z2 Play is a good smartphone. It would look even better if the Moto Z Play (no longer) existed. The predecessor does many things just as good, some things just a bit worse, and other things even better while being considerably cheaper.

So there we have it: the Moto Z2 is a great mid-range phone in its own right, with super stamina, solid performance, 64GB of storage, plenty of features and a good camera. Throw in its expandability with its Moto Mods, and you have very versatile device.

The Moto Z2 Play is currently a Verizon exclusive , and if you buy it by July 26, the JBL SoundBoost Moto Mod is included for free. If you are not on Verizon , there is an unlocked version that will be available later this summer, priced at $500.
