Motorola Moto E (2015) review: Lollipop and 4G on a budget

The Moto E (2015) updates last year's version of the phone in some important areas, boosting the processing power and updating to Android Lollipop. It did, however, neglect doing much to upgrade the woeful front and rear cameras on the 2014 model.
Pros:
  • Great processing power for the price
  • Clever
  • dinky design
  • Can handle some good 3D gaming
  • Android Lollipop
Cons:
  • Small
  • low-resolution screen
  • Poor front and rear cameras
  • A bit on the chubby side

Motorola Moto E review

Featuring above average internal specifications traditionally seen only on smartphones close to twice as expensive, and an all but untouched version of Android, the Moto G (2013) was one of a select few smartphones to achieve V3 's five-star rating.
Pros:
  • Android 5.0 Lollipop
  • affordable
  • reasonable performance
  • decent design
Cons:
  • Camera is average
  • only 8GB of storage

Moto E has remained the most sold smartphone from Motorola ever. So a sequel was due. And it has come, after 2nd generation releases of Moto G and Moto X. It has come with a similar price, shape and network capabilities.
Pros:
  • Marvelous ergonomic design
  • Active display
  • Good battery backup
  • Better loudspeakers
Cons:
  • Cameras still a letdown
  • No Flash
  • Core performance could have been better

Motorola Moto E

The Motorola Moto E is a slightly smaller, slightly cheaper alternative to the Moto G , the highest-selling phone Motorola has ever made. For around £80 you get a simple, pretty high-quality mobile with fewer cutbacks than you'd see in a Samsung phone of the same price, and none of the odd design...
Pros:
  • Great value
  • Class-leading screen
  • Up-to-date software
Cons:
  • Poor camera
  • Limited storage
  • Low-end CPU

Excellent for the money even if it had cost more

This smartphone is excellent for the money, and would be even if it had cost more. My daughter recently bought a much more costly phone and I think the Motoe3 is pretty much as good.

Ideal sub $200 smartphone?

Not much more to say about an entry level phone. It is value for money and exceeded my expectations. To have such a cheap price point, you're obviously going to have to cut some corners, but for a daily driver its not bad.
Pros:
  • -Great aesthetics for a sub $200 smartphone which does not prioritize aesthetics at all
  • -Curved and comfortable water repellent body
  • -Customizability
  • -Crisp display for 4.3 inches
  • -Great battery life for 1980mAh
Cons:
  • -No front camera
  • -Poor quality back camera
  • -No 4G
