Good game but its north the 1st ..................
The original Mirror's Edge was one of my very favorite games of the last generation. It was a different type of game in a time where multiplayer shooters
Far better story development and narrative than the original; Beautiful art style; Plenty to do in this game
Running in the open world never reaches its potential; Forced combat sequences are repetitive and frustrating; Technical/Graphical issues pop-up quite often
If you and your friends spent a late night recounting the great games of 2008, Mirror's Edge would likely feature somewhere in that conversation. It was a monumental title, back when shooting things in the face was fast becoming the norm.
Runners know that there's a big difference between a 100-meter dash and a marathon. You can go all out during the former and burn brightly over a short period of time, as did the original Mirror's Edge , but the latter requires a steadier sense of pacing and drive.
After many years of torture the team of DICE finally came to their senses and developed the game fans have been begging for. Gone is the linear structure of the 2008 cult classic and in its place is an open-world for you to explore.
The parkour moves are as satisfying as ever | Grid Nodes are fun and challenging
The open-world structure does not work | Faith's voice recording is a low quality | The map is generally a mess of icon
A better game than the original, but it still suffers from many of the same problems – with desperately uninteresting storytelling and combat.
The first person platforming works extremely well and the art design is highly distinctive and impressive; Large, well-designed open world with plenty to see and do
The story and characters are completely uninteresting and the setting lacks personality and dynamism; Simplistic combat and terrible ragdoll physics; Some graphical and audio bugs
Mirror's Edge Catalyst is an interesting game with some strong ideas but not enough variety.
Well-executed free running mechanics; Beautifully stylised city
Gives up everything it has too soon; Terrible combat
The staples of Mirror's Edge remain refreshing and unique in the first-person genre in 2016, but Catalyst's attempts to keep up with the open-world Joneses don't always jive with its design strengths of movement and momentum.
Fun parkour; User-made races
Unlikable characters & story; Muddy textures; Uneven combat
Massive fan of the original - it was refreshing and new and although I know it wasn't perfect it was a success as far as I was concerned - it could've been built on and made better. Catalyst is a disappointment - the biggest problem is that it has gone open world and it needn't have.
