Mirror's Edge: Catalyst

Get ready to step back into the well-worn sneakers of City of Glass runner Faith Connors once again with Mirror's Edge: Catalyst , the follow up to 2008's underrated free-running action game.

Mirror's Edge Catalyst (PS4) Review

If you're looking for a game to play rather than watch where you can pretend to know parkour then this is a good one for Mirror's Edge fans and those new to the series. If however, you want something more meaningful from the narrative or just want to hear Lisa Miskovsky's Stay Alive one last time,...

After many years of torture the team of DICE finally came to their senses and developed the game fans have been begging for. Gone is the linear structure of the 2008 cult classic and in its place is an open-world for you to explore.

The parkour moves are as satisfying as ever | Grid Nodes are fun and challenging

The open-world structure does not work | Faith's voice recording is a low quality | The map is generally a mess of icon

Mirror's Edge Catalyst

Runners know that there's a big difference between a 100-meter dash and a marathon. You can go all out during the former and burn brightly over a short period of time, as did the original Mirror's Edge , but the latter requires a steadier sense of pacing and drive.

Mirror's Edge Catalyst Review – Freerunning All The Way to Mediocrity

The original Mirror's Edge was my first taste of parkour in video games, it paved the way for titles like Dying Light and Titanfall . Mirror's Edge Catalyst being the natural successor only gave me high hopes for what was promised to be the same mesh of acrobatic stunting and combat fluidity on a...

Clunky combat; Pointless upgrades; Forgettable story

The original Mirrors Edge was ahead of its time, providing a first person free running experience before its best features were adapted (albeit often in reduced form) across almost all modern FPS games.

Mirror's Edge Catalyst

Faith's iconic red shoes run across the shiny rooftops of Glass. She's ducking under pipes, jumping over fences and dodging KrugSec guards while maintaining full speed. The red smokey line in front of her suggests that we continue through the red door, but we know a shortcut.

Mirror's Edge Catalyst Review

The staples of Mirror's Edge remain refreshing and unique in the first-person genre in 2016, but Catalyst's attempts to keep up with the open-world Joneses don't always jive with its design strengths of movement and momentum.

Fun parkour; User-made races

Unlikable characters & story; Muddy textures; Uneven combat

Mirror's Edge Catalyst Review

Faith restored.

Movement is remarkable; Social Play is challenging and fun; The city of Glass is beautifully vibrant

Story and characters are dull; Combat is ropey at times
