Microsoft boasts that its new Surface Go gives you "laptop performance, tablet portability, and a stunning touchscreen with the power of Windows 10." Sounds like a winning combination!

Take it anywhere

This is the smallest and lightest Surface ever made, weighing in at around 500 grams. Its diminutive size means it can fit into any bag and be taken anywhere, yet it is packed with the processing power to do a job that punches well above its weight!

Turn a tablet into a laptop

For a quality laptop experience, simply pair Surface Go's ultra-compact Signature Type Cover, which performs like a full-size keyboard, with the lightweight and precise Surface Mobile Mouse. The result is a lightweight laptop with heavyweight performance capabilities.

A bright and sharp display

You're able to touch, view, and write on the PixelSense display, boasting a 3:2 aspect ratio and a resolution of 1800 x 1200. The result is a crisp and colourful display which is much more vivid and easy to view than many devices of a similar size.

HD quality camera

The all-important camera feature is very impressive, allowing you to take great photos and make super-clear video calls with a front-facing and rear auto-focus HD camera.

Power a plenty

The new Surface Go features a powerful Intel processor which easily handles the day to day demands of running software and apps, while the battery will give you up to 9 hours per charge.

Cons:
  • Performance can be slow at times
  • Battery life isn't as good as iPad Pro

Microsoft Surface Go review: The ultraportable laptop alternative

Few companies have produced affordable Windows devices that are firstly desirable and secondly portable. So Microsoft has decided it's time to step into the ring with the Surface Go: an entry-level 2-in-1 to the Surface range, sitting below the Surface Pro.
Pros:
  • Highly portable
  • MicroSD slot and USB-C welcome
  • Robust kickstand
  • Excellent optional keyboard
Cons:
  • Accessories up the price a lot

Microsoft Surface Go review: Going for gold

By rights, the Surface Go shouldn't be that impressive. It's an undersized and under-equipped device that one would assume would be suited mainly to students, but spend some time with it and you'll discover that it's a deceptively versatile little device.
Pros:
  • USB-C support
  • Super versatile
  • Great value
Cons:
  • Underwhelming battery life
  • TypeCover keyboard is expensive

  • Windows 10 gives users plenty of freedom
  • Extremely portable
  • Kick-stand offers versatility
Cons:
  • Pricey considering Type Cover isn't bundled in
  • Low-powered performance
  • Dated design

Microsoft Surface Go review: a new iPad Pro and Galaxy Tab S4 killer

In the land of the pro tablet, the iPad Pro is king. Well, okay, maybe that depends on whether you count the likes of Microsoft Surface Pro as ‘tablet' or ‘touchscreen PC with optional keyboard', but if we're talking 10-inch traditional tablet form factor, Apple's had it fairly well sewn up.
Pros:
  • Brilliant ergonomics
  • Fantastic pen and keyboard
  • Can run full fat Windows 10
Cons:
  • Not as slick app experience compared to rivals

Exceeded Expectations

I grabbed a Surface Go a couple of months ago. I needed a tablet to replace my old Surface RT which I really only used as a Kindle to read with. I ended up getting the keyboard and pen for the Surface Go as well and was really impressed. It's more than fast enough to handle web, e-mail and Office.

Microsoft Surface Go

The small-scale Surface Go from Microsoft recasts the larger Surface Pro two-in-one as a casual computer you can toss in a bag and take anywhere. But, the change in size, price and processing power presents a lot of questions for would-be buyers.
Pros:
  • The Surface Go delivers Microsoft's great Surface design and accessories at a lower price and in a smaller size
Cons:
  • The Pentium processor isn't suited for all tasks
  • A keyboard cover is a must-have add-on but still sold separately
  • And you'll probably want to pay extra for more storage and RAM, too
  • Battery life is lacking for a go-anywhere PC
