My mum is a self-taught internet buff and it never fails to amaze me how advanced she is technologically. Her latest craze is Skype. My two sisters and I have been given webcams and bullied into opening up Skype accounts so she can see us and her grandchildren while we talk.

Reliability

You get what you pay for, but if you just want 20 bucks to skype with a pal or two where quality isn't of high importance, then it's great.

Best Hardware For MSN Messenger & Great With Windows Live

I've had different makes of webcams over the years, but decided to go for the Microsoft Life VX-2000. It is probably the best webcam I have ever had, the picture is near perfect, definately worth spending extra on.

I have received the Webcam but have not tried it yet. It will be a Christmas Gift so I can't evaluate the item. I do know that I cannot return it after Christmas even if it doesn't work for us...unless I pay for the S/H plus restocking fee..

I got this cam as a gift for wife and installing and set up was a breeze. I found good quality sound and picture.

Excellent little web cam. I like it very much and it does a good job. Only drawback is that it does not have a clamping capability for my laptop. The one I had before did but it did not clamp well and it did not last long.
