The mic is not usable. And there is no fixing it. I ended up buying a dedicated microphone. I would not recommend this brand of webcam to anyone ever.

Great picture but useless for webcam with Skype because the microphone didn't work. Microsoft had a several useless suggestions. It appears the software has compatibility problems with Windows 7 64 bit.

It's a good product at its price point. The cam quality and mic quality is good but the silver bezel around the camera chips very easily

It is possible that this camera works well within about a foot, but anything more than 2.5 feet washes out the image with weird auto-brightness issues. Also, the mic is only functional in certain scenarios (again, close up). Otherwise it is either too loud or too quiet.

Second one I bought. Easy install (plug 'n play), good quality pics, excellent voice quality. Works good with Skype. I was pleased with picture quality when only a few inches from the subject (coins). The effects you can use are fun, but sometimes some do not work when on Skype.

You will have no idea what I do with my webcam . I mean I have to meet new people and to have a bad webcam will not justify what I'm trying to do. I basically look to get a web cam that will allow me to give off quality. If I can't give off quality then guess what I'm not talking to you.

True HD, autofocus and not a fixed focus. excellent built in Mic. Apple OSX compatible (no drivers needed) no lens cover. short USB cable. Contrary to what other folks think, you CAN simply use an external mic with this. I do that with my Dell Vista laptop AND my Powermac tower running OSX.
