Powerfull and reliable

The only drawback of this flash is its resistive touch screen, easy to scratch and less sensitive that currently capacitive touch screen. Except this, it's solid and reliable gear, with pretty decent cycle delay and enough power to suit most use cases for an better price than Nikon speedlights.

I had been looking at Pentax flashes as well as 3rd parties, and from the reviews, I knew Metz was good. This being a new model, there wasn't any reviews on how it worked with Pentax, but I took the leap of faith, and grabbed it when the price went down.

Unusual flash as is first flash with LCD touch screen ever. Can't complain about control flow, maybe not fastest if you need to change EV comp very often (but is compatible with inbody settings of flash EV comp "-2" to "+1" which is great and much handier!).

features; look; lcd; power; Metz

can't rotate completly 180° to both sides - only one; lowest lcd brightness still too bright

I use it under most conditions when testing it, but have not yet got round to testing it in night-time shots

The best flash you could match with a Canon SLR

The best flash you could match with a Canon SLR. The quality "made in Germany" is just outstanding. Metz always has made the best flash ever.

Taking advantage of Boxing week pricing , I bought the Metz 52 af1 for my nikon d5100 sometime in January. And since then I have been taking it through the paces.ttl is seamless, in servo mode I'm able to execute off camera flash exposures using the cameras' inbuilt flash to fire the metz.

Metz 52 AF-1 Flash

Take a modern TTL flash, from any brand, and look at its back. You're almost sure to see buttons, dials and switches covering the whole surface below a monochrome LCD screen. With varying degrees of success, these controls are designed to allow quick settings changes.

Top of the line build quality; Compact size and lightweight; 300° head rotation; High power; adjustable to 1/128 in thirds of stops; Multiple modes and many functions; Effective touchscreen interface; Settings are memorized after power loss; Stand and carrying case included; Very good user manual,...

Head doesn't move below 0; No auto-thyristor; User interface could easily be made more functional; is not faster than buttons (but more complete
