Some of the best games have immersed us in a world that gave a feeling of purpose. Looking left, right, up, and down in absolute awe is no easy task. Convincing the player to truly want to protect said world and the people in it is even more difficult.

For me, this game has possibly the best atmosphere and presentation of any game. It feels more like an immersive film than a game. I've never been so impressed at how a game presents itself.

Best Game ever. Dark places, horrid mutants, thrilling gameplay and soundtrack taken from the devil himself. But be prepared to download about 3 GB of patches even before you start playing as steam does not offer offline play before applied patches as does uplay. But worth every byte !

Beneath a frozen city ruined long ago by its own weapons of destruction, humankind clings to survival. In dirty overcrowded stations, women haggle for scraps at the market as old men mourn the world they lost and children run underfoot, knowing no life beyond their meager subterranean existence.

Occasional slowdown in frantic moments; Problematic enemy AI; Darkness is sometimes overbearing

Have played it all the way through and enjoyed it, yet I am still not sure what the hell was going on and who we were supposed to be fighting, mutants, aliens?

Global warming, rogue meteors, zombie viruses, alien invasion… let's face it; a nuclear war seems like the most logical reason for the inevitable end of the world.

Get on board Metro 2033. It's not been heavily advertised but it's a great game, and my early pick for sleeper hit of the year. Hats off to 4A Games on a job well done.

One of the best games I've ever played, and I've been playing video games for decades now! Fantastic graphics engine, it ran smoothly with great detail on a relatively old PC - and there's a 'Redux' version out now, with a more updated graphics engine.
