The Magellan eXplorist 110 GPS receiver comes with essential navigation features and is ready to use right out of the box. A vibrant, transflective color screen allows for the best readability in direct sunlight.

The unit is easy to use and the screen brightness adjustable for best viewing. However, the algorithm used to map tracks and calculate mileage (and maybe other data) grossly over estimates mileage. The odometer function is useless and the track mapping creates a very erratic track.

Bought this unit for geocaching. Although the downloaded geocaches from Geocaching.com can be found reasonable accurately, I have found that this unit is useless for entering waypoints. After several phone calls, and countless updates, added waypoints still are off by over 70 feet.

I checked out a few reviews on YouTube about this item before I brought it, I was expecting to turn it on and it will automatically find and start to Geocache for me but nope it didn't.

I found this slightly alien to understand at first - maybe an example guide should be considered. I got it because it is more robust than my smartphone. Definately not as slick but then again for its price it does exactly as it says - just need to get through the guide easier...

I own 3 different fishing boats (for different type of fishing) and use this unit to mark fishing spots and to navigate bodies of water that are not familiar with(in conjunction with a physical map). It works great for me and the price is right!

Used this for off road tacking and Jeep driving out of coverage areas. Great for uploading the maps to google maps and saving tracks and navigating back to the start.

I would highly recomend this product Magellan. I have been using the explorist models for several years now and recently purchased this unit as the pricepoint has come down a lot. This unit used to cost around $200+ back in the days. Protable, light, easy to use and battery last a lot.
