Lost Planet 3 at least has a respectable story and some combat variety to it, even if the pieces don't always come together quite right. Jumping in and out of the mech keeps it from being just another cover-based shooter.

Ignore the number on the box: Lost Planet 3 is actually a prequel to Capcom's previous alien-blasters, set long before the sub-zero antics of Lost Planet: Extreme Condition . That's on paper.

The Uncanny Valley – not a location in the new Lost Planet, but a term used to describe the levels of discomfort we feel when the features of artificial characters become almost, but not quite, lifelike. This is where Lost Planet 3 took me fairly quickly.

I hope you liked the first level because the rest of the game is the first level over and over again.

This game can keep you entertained for hours. Role playing games are definitely cost effective for the cost of the game per hours played.

To be honest, the Lost Planet franchise has never quite achieved greatness. The first game, an early 360 release, was pretty good, with solid third-person action mixed between ground shooting and mech fighting.

The Lost Planet series and I have had our shares of ups and downs. I adored the first game, but loathed the second. When the original game released on the Xbox 360 there was a sense of " next-gen " about it – the gorgeous looking ice world, the grappling hook mechanic, huge, exhilarating monster...

Despite looking the part, and having some of the best voice work in a third person shooter, Lost Planet 3 turns the gun on itself with bad gameplay design, terrible boss battles, and a story that never delivers on its promises.
