Logitech Pure-Fi Express Plus

The Pure-Fi Express Plus brings an integrated alarm clock to the docking party, although you probably won't lose any sleep over this particular feature (pardon the pun). Our only real disappointment is the remote control's lack of functionality.

Great for price!

Read some online reviews that were not 100% for 5 stars. But in comparison to my previous dock this is actually like having a stereo again not a set of rubbish plug in speakers. Nice to hear bass again! Was great to get it at 40% off but I would have paid full price for the quality!

The Pure-Fi Express Plus is a portable iPod/iPhone speaker dock with a total of 4 speakers – two on each side of the unit. It uses omnidirectional acoustic technology to send out sound in all directions, and features a simple set of controls on the front of the unit.

Included remote control; decent styling; relatively inexpensive.

Sound quality leaves a lot to be desired; size is not easily portable

Review: Logitech Pure-Fi Express Plus

When I was going away to college in 2003, I purchased a pair of $20 speakers from Radio Shack. I knew I needed to buy something because I like to do everything with music on - clean, homework, shower, etc. I didn't test it out in the store but the representative guaranteed they would be good.

Logitech Pure-Fi Express Plus

In an overstuffed iPod dock/alarm clock market, Logitech isn't short of options. The bare-bones Pure-Fi Express Plus sounds okay, but it lacks some commonplace features like an AM/FM tuner and the ability to wake you to your iPod tunes.

Affordable; Decent sound for the price; Intuitive controls

Distortion at high volumes; No AM/FM tuner; Remote offers limited iPod navigation, no alarm controls; Alarm can't use iPod's music to wake you

Logitech Pure-Fi Express Plus

The Logitech Pure-Fi Express Plus is about as basic as iPod speakers get, though it does have a built-in alarm clock. At just under $100, we think the Express Plus sounds impressive for the money, and makes for a decent accessory either indoors or outside.

Built-in alarm clock; Runs on batteries or AC power; Easy to use; Omnidirectional sound gives more placement options

No built-in rechargeable battery; iPodiPhone doesnt charge while speaker runs on battery power; No built-in radio; Remote doesnt navigate iPod

Logitech Pure-Fi Express Plus

If soul music legend Barry White (regarded as the ‘Sultan of Smooth Soul') had to have had a speaker dock when he was alive, he would most probably have bought Logitech's Pure-Fi Express Plus.

Can't produce very loud audio; alarm can't be set to play music and lacks a snooze button; no radio

Logitech Pure-Fi Express review Review

While it won't exactly stop the presses, the Logitech Pure-Fi Express is a compact speaker system that is ideally suited for your MP3 player. This device is easily carted from home to office, especially because of its travel-friendly carrying case.

Understated design with a small desktop footprint; Sounds decent at low volumes; Includes some handy extras; such as a padded case; a wireless remote and a line-in cable

Too boxy to be considered truly travel-friendly; Lacking in bass; Audio quality is subpar at high volumes
