The mouse has a segmented scroll wheel - that is, it's not completely free to rotate as in most Logitech mice - but you can feel the "clicks" (not audible) as you rotate it.

When I first purchased the mouse, I installed and used it with the stock Windows XP drivers. After about a week, I downloaded and installed the latest version of Logitech's Setpoint drivers.
