LittleBigPlanet 3

A LittleBigPlanet game has many moving parts, and LittleBigPlanet 3 showcases what can go wrong when they aren't quite properly aligned, despite a valiant attempt. New developer Sumo Digital created an enormous puzzle-platformer with equally enormous scope for creation and an enjoyable single-player...

Gorgeous; imaginative worlds; Beefed up creation toolkit; Great new power ups

Curiously limited co-op; Game-breaking bugs

Test : LittleBigPlanet 3 [PS4]

LittleBigPlanet 3 review – Sackboy and?friends

LittleBigPlanet is once again its own worst enemy, as it fails to make the best use of its own fun new characters. Although the creation tools are the most accessible they've ever been.

The new characters are great and so too are Sackboy's new range of items; Great visuals and art design, and the Creation mode is the best yet – especially Popit Puzzles

Surprisingly little use is made of the new characters in story mode and the co-op mode is weirdly limited; Platform controls still aren't great; Lots of bugs and glitches

Little Big Planet 3

Little Big Planet has lost its creativity, or perhaps it's just that we're getting old. Ironically the game's story also deals with some of these issues. It's still fun play, but somehow it feels like the creative juices were all spent on Little Big Planet 2, and there were none left for part three.

LittleBigPlanet 3

LittleBigPlanet 3 is the first of the cutesy series entries to grace the PS4, and this time round the big focus is on the introduction of three new characters. Along with the ever loveable Sack Boy, LittleBigPlanet 3 introduces Oddsock, Toggle and Swoop, three brand new friends each with their own...

Strong and immersive storyline; Gadgets and Sack Pocket add new gameplay layers; Beautifully crafted levels and soundtrack; New characters to master; Strong community created content

Campaign is far too short; Not enough co-op fun; Last levels are evil

LittleBigPlanet 3 review

Without these problems, I'd have no hesitation in saying this is the best LittleBigPlanet game to date. The deeper integration of creative elements into the story is a big plus, as is the superior level design, and the new characters are very welcome, even if they're ultimately underused.

LittleBigPlanet 3

Ultimately, LittleBigPlanet 3 is a pretty decent effort which lamentably hamstrings itself. It's charming, aesthetically pleasing, and a lot of fun when it works – but various bugs and glitches, long load times, and a lacklustre story mode really drag it down.

LittleBigPlanet 3 (PS4) - Review

After a surprisingly short delay between announcement and release, LittleBigPlanet 3 has made its way to PS3 and PS4. It's the first console iteration without Media Molecule at the helm, and any fan of the series will tell you, Sumo Digital has quite big shoes to fill.

LittleBigPlanet 3 review

In its attempt to breathe new life into the franchise, LittleBigPlanet 3 stops short of being truly innovative. New gameplay hooks introduced via extra characters are akin to the Yoshi effect, wherein the core experience is radically changed for the better.

+ Fresh new gameplay ideas; + New mode to introduce you to creating; + Backwards compatible DLC

- Use of new characters is heavily restricted; - New ideas aren't fully explored; - Create mode is still overwhelming despite new mode

Sackboy rides again

A solid game that definitely has an audience. Might lack replay value, could be too short or there are some hard-to-ignore faults, but the experience is fun.
