LittleBigPlanet 3's whimsical world has plenty of good ideas that struggle to form a cohesive whole, writes John Robertson.

LittleBigPlanet 3 has been made by a different developer from the first two, but you wouldn't know it. Stephen Fry's perfectly measured voiceovers are joined by Hugh Laurie playing the lightbulb-headed Newton, and your sackperson, the game's customisable hessian hero, is joined by three new stars:...
Over the past few years LittleBigPlanet and Sackboy have become household names among the PlayStation brands, but does Sumo Digital's first take on the franchise hold up to its predecessors?
Great story mode; Amazing level-editing tools; Massive amount of content
Technical issues; Learning curve might be off-putting for some
Sony definitely took a chance by giving the LittleBigPlanet (LBP) franchise over to Sumo Digital and people seemed to be completely aghast when they found out that Media Molecule were no longer in charge of the next game. I expected anarchy, public outcry and basically, the worst parts of the Bible.

In conclusion I really wanted to like this game as I have all the others. Sadly the bugs and glitches were too much to continue playing and some of the characters too hard to control. I miss the old level layout, the current one with the added hub is too confusing and just isn't necessary.
The title quickly spawned a sequel and iterations on multiple other devices, such as the PSP or the PS Vita, which further expanded the fanbase and added even more elements to the side-scrolling puzzle platformer, transforming it into a multi-faceted experience.
Fleshed out story mode; Gorgeous visuals; Intuitive level editor & PopIt Academy; Great soundtrack and voice acting; Imaginative new characters
New characters aren't portrayed all that much; A few restrictions when playing cooperatively; Some story levels feel a bit confusing
I bought these two items late in the week and I had them delivered to my door on the Monday.
