X1 Yoga G3 is a star, best laptop I have ever used

Screen is gorgeous. Best I have used in 20 years. Keypad is nice. Fit is nice. USB-C charging is universal. This is a fast machine for my use which is primarily sales support, but also run multiple VMs on Hyper-v, K8s / kubernetes and Docker. Also using Aporeto for container security.

Thin, sleek and high performance

The X1 Yoga works well as a large format tablet, and is an excellent laptop with great performance & nice keyboard feel -- overall a superior product especially for someone like me who wants a big tablet but also loves the ThinkPad laptop quality (and the pointing stick when touch typing)

Powerful, light, versatile, reliable

I am a former Mac user who like many have realized that they can get better performance for a lot less money. I am a power user of Adobe products, so laptops typically struggle with large document formats.

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Yoga (3rd Gen)

Taking the venerable ThinkPad X1 Carbon and adding a 360º hinge should result in one of the best convertible laptops that money can buy, but the transformation isn't quite so straightforward.

Excellent all-round performance; Very good keyboard and trackpad; Impressive display brightness; Integrated ThinkPad Pen Pro; Robust ThinkPad X1 build quality; Three-year warranty

Fan noise is noticeable; Battery life good but not great; Oversaturated display colours; HDR and Dolby Vision question marks

Hands-on review: Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Yoga (2018)

Lenovo's toe-curlingly bad adverts for its Yoga 2-in-1 devices really shouldn't put anyone off considering one of the laptops if they're in the market for a new lappy - tempting as it might be to do so.

Not surprisingly, the most interesting out of the bunch is the latter, the X1 Yoga, which takes the innovations of the X1 Carbon and places them in a convertible form, boasting access to Intel's latest 8th-generation Core processors, up to 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of SSD storage under the hood.
