a little less than expected

very lightweight; nice screen

the letter keys are stiff and squeaky, and the spacebar has a dead spot on both ends of it; it makes an otherwise nice computer unpleasant to use; also, the CPU/GPU seem underpowered on the battery: video playback is choppy

Review: Lenovo Carbon X1

T he review unit as supplied is the full-spec job, and in this guise it truly is a supreme business machine. There's an all-encompassing aura of luxury about the Carbon X1, which, in a world of nice looking ultrabooks, sets the Carbon X1 above the rest.

The ThinkPad X1 Carbon, now in its third generation, tries to bridge the gap between slim, fashion-first laptops and solid business machines. Laptops over the years have become worse and worse in terms of features and comfort, largely because of a push to become as thin and light as possible.

Study; slim and light; Great performance; Good screen

Average battery life; Software bloat; Limited physical and wireless connectivity

Lenovo X1 Carbon Ultrabook 14 Inch Laptop Review

The Lenovo X1 Carbon is a serious Ultrabook for the business professional. It also carries a seriously high price tag, especially as you start upgrading components, but in return you get a premium system that's built to last, is every bit as portable as a MacBook Air, and is fast on the draw.

Rugged and Rubberized; Input Done Right; Thin and Light; Fast Storage; Superior Resolution

Not Much of A Gamer; Pricey

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Ultrabook Review: High Performance Mobile Computing

Lenovo's ThinkPad X1 Carbon is definitely a high performing ultrabook which offers great performance and mobility in a thin, light package.

Great design; excellent performance; light weight

Price may be a consideration for some

Lenovo ThinkPad Carbon X1 review (2014)

Serious laptops don't have to be dull anymore. Just a few years ago, we'd have avoided those designed for business folk like we would a swaying drunk on the train - but the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon proves that Ultrabooks fit for business are now good enough for everyday folk to use and show off...

Practical matte finish screen; supremely well equipped; very portable; tough carbon fibre construction; trackpad and keyboard comfortable for long periods of use; thin and light

Expensive; keyboard and function key changes will polarise opinion; ThinkPad logo might polarise opinion too; far pricier than a MacBook Air

The big issue with the X1 Carbon is its staggering price. Just like the pricey HP EliteBook Folio 1020 , you'll have to wave goodbye to a huge chunk of your IT budget if you want a fully-loaded model equipped with a high-DPI touchscreen.

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon (2016) review

Last year's version of the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon was a fully-capable business Ultrabook that featured a few minor flaws. Unfortunately for Lenovo, these issues kept the Carbon from reaching the pinnacle of the business laptop market.

Most Excellent X1

Fantastic machine. Have had a long line of Thinkpads from the early 1990s and really missed the red Trackpoint button when I bought a Yoga a couple of years back. Saw this on Amazon at a great price so snapped it up before it went.
