Lenovo's 2011 vision of the ultimate boardroom ultraportable, the ThinkPad X1, simply didn't live up to expectations. Now, however, the company has gone back to the drawing board and attempted to right the wrongs of its predecessor. Enter Lenovo's business ultrabook: the X1 Carbon.

Overall, we really liked the X1 Carbon, and we think almost everyone in Australia's corporate and small business community who's got the laptop on their ‘potential buy' list will be pleased with it also.

Review: Lenovo Carbon X1

T he review unit as supplied is the full-spec job, and in this guise it truly is a supreme business machine. There's an all-encompassing aura of luxury about the Carbon X1, which, in a world of nice looking ultrabooks, sets the Carbon X1 above the rest.

Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Carbon 6th gen Intel

The Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Carbon has a brilliant keyboard, performs well and good battery life. The security features are impressive as well and all this makes it the best business class ultrabook to buy today.

8-9 hours of battery life; well built and lightweight; brilliant keyboard

larger footprint compared to other ultrabooks; Steep pricing

The only thing we can really knock the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon for is its endurance. The battery life is decent, but there are better options out there for longevity such as the Dell XPS 13.

Gorgeous QHD display; Market-leading keyboard; Lightning quick SSD

Lack of Ethernet and SD Card slot; Mediocre endurance

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon: An enterprise-class notebook to fall in love with

ThinkPads have been a class act among business laptops since IBM launched the line over two decades ago. As a Lenovo brand, they remain pricey, but they're also exceptionally easy to carry and comfortable to use. The ThinkPad X1 Carbon Touch stands out even from its forebears.

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon (2017) Review

Lenovo's ThinkPad X1 Carbon is the best laptop for traveling professionals.

Durable chassis; Plenty of ports; Attractive; yet anti-glare display; Excellent processor and hard drive performance; Class-leading battery life

Mediocre look and feel; Very small touchpad; More expensive than similar competitors
