Leica SL2-S review

In some ways the Leica SL2-S beats its brother when it comes to video specs and speed and justifies that a more modest resolution can be an advantage. Unless you need to print billboard posters or need that swathes of detail, we’d opt for the SL2-S over the SL2 for £1325 cheaper. But one thing is certain - those in the market for a Leica aren’t penny-pinching as there are a plethora of cheaper models out there which offer just as much in terms ofimage quality and more flexibility - but only Leica offers that signature styling

Leica SL2-S review

The Leica SL2-S is a slightly strange proposition. It’s aimed at videographers with a huge range of video-friendly specs, but misses the mark by not including an articulating screen. It works well as a hybrid stills-video shooter, but with its handling quirks and imperfect autofocusing, it won’t appeal to everybody. Still, if you’re keen to get into the Leica brand, this is one of the cheapest ways you can currently do it.

Leica SL2-S Review

Leica's SL cameras are a bit more mainstream in design than its iconic M rangefinder line, but sacrifice none of the material quality or attention to detail that have cemented the company's position as a premium brand. Its SL2-S ($4,995, body only) offers modern conveniences that you don't get with an M10 rangefinder, including a smart autofocus system and 4K video recording, and packages it in a stunning, all-weather body. It costs more than mainstream alternatives, like our Editors' Choice winner, the Panasonic Lumix S5, but there's no question as to where your money goes—the SL2-S delivers a true luxury experience.Emphasis on Design The SL2-S shares its body design with the SL2, a 2019 release. The SL2 is made for high-resolution imaging, using a 47MP full-frame sensor compared with the SL2-S's 24MP.
