Lanvin Rumeur : Fragrance Review

Lanvin Rumeur was originally created in 1934 by André Fraysse, a perfumer responsible for a number of Lanvin classics, from the sandalwood infused floral warmth of Arpège to the incense tinged Crescendo .

Lanvin Rumeur (for women)

The Lanvin brand created Rumeur in the far distant 1934. But it is completely to the newly presented Rumeur in 2006. The new fragrance which has only stolen the name from its predecessor was created by Francis Kurkdijan.

Eau de parfum, heady

I had loved a sample from a year ago; my recollection of Rumeur was that it was a softer-spoken floral. Received the Eau de parfum a week ago. Not as I remembered in that sample. It is so strong to me that I've only been able to spray a tiny bit into the cap, and then dab it on my wrists.

Great Value; Long-Lasting

Overpowering

An Addictive Chameleon

After reading some reviews from fellow perfumistas about Rumeur I can only be -yet again- amazed at how our chemistry and sense of smell make each fragrance an utterly personal experience. I can only smile at the name and how appropriate it is: Rumeur (rumours, talk, buzz etc) Indeed!

This isn't Narciso Rodríguez - and for that I'm thankful. Narciso Rodriguez is awful on my skin. The patchouli in it takes over and overpowers everything else. This is more similar to SJP Lovely, except this actually has staying power. The opening is very different from both of those though.

"An average fragrance for a way above average price"

I never realized Lanvin had released this fragrance until I was given one as a present from a friend of my mother's who had just come back from a trip abroad and was in gratitude to me for babysitting for her.

It is an ok fragrance; easy to fit in the handbag

Not remarkable enough; common scent; expensive

A nail polish-smelling, empty and poorly blended musky white floral with a vintage vibe

Launched: 2006 Group: Floral woody musk INTRODUCTION I acquired three relatively recent perfume miniatures from Lanvin so after reviewing Marry Me launched in 2010, I'm now onto my second quest, the reformulated and relaunched Rumeur available from 2006.

This Rumeur seems strange.

This seems totally different than what I tried on in the department store. It has no staying power like a a true perfume.

Lanvin Rumeur

Quite a strong perfume, certainly lasts for the day and is pleasant. A previous purchase some time ago that had received some unexpected compliments and I remembered it as having a sort of grapefruit and quite fresh aroma. This time around seems different and I am not getting the grapefruit.

Lanvin Rumeur

My husband, now deceased, flew into France at least once a month in the late 1950's and 1960's. He would bring me wonderful, BIG bottles of Rumeur ... You have a new customer with me ... it is, in my opinion, the lovliest, sexiest perfume ever made by man and so said my Darling!
