We're spoilt for choice when it comes to premium-quality smartphones, with the LG V30, as well as the larger LG V30 Plus, being very worthy to this exclusive club. In terms of dazzling features, the V30 ticks a lot of boxes, including these ones!

A Big Screen Experience

The V30 pushes the screen right out to the edges in truly eye-catching style. More than 80% of the front surface area is made up of screen, which hosts a big, clear resolution of 1,440 x 2, 880.

A Near Cinematic Experience

Probably the biggest feature of the screen is what you can watch on it! HDR10 (High Dynamic Range) support means you can enjoy HDR content of cinematic quality from sources including Amazon and Netflix.

A Vastly Improved Camera

The improvements in the V30's camera are in fact so substantial, that it could well be considered the best smartphone camera you can get. It's certainly right up there, thanks to a 16-megapixel main camera, a 13-megapixel wide-angle camera and HDR video, where much attention has focussed on upgrading the shooting, editing and sharing tools.

Sounds Wonderful Too

In recent years, LG phones have made a name for striking audio quality, and the V30 keeps that reputation intact...in fact, it probably enhances it! Put this down to Hi-Fi Quad DAC which basically makes music sound less digital and "tinny", and far more rich and deep, like real music should sound!

Those Important Internals

Some high-quality components inside the V30 deliver the mind-blowing stuff you can see and hear in the V30, with Snapdragon 835 and Android 7.1 Nougat being prominent features of the V30's operational platform.

LG V30 review: While the new LG V30S ThinQ has better specs, the V30 costs a lot less

The LG V30 is a rock-solid alternative to Samsung’s Galaxy S8 Plus and the Google Pixel 2 XL. If it fits your hands and your photographic needs, you won't be disappointed. The LG V30 ($360 at eBay) was well-received upon its launch in November 2017. A significant step up from the G6, the V30 proved to be a worthy adversary to the Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus, especially in the camera department. With impressive battery life, a high quality headphone jack, and fast performance, it's easy to see why the V30 is still one of our favorite smartphones.
Pros:
  • The LG V30 almost has it all: a great camera
  • speedy processor
  • huge OLED screen
  • excellent battery life
  • waterproofing
  • wireless charging
  • microSD storage and the best headphone jack on a phone.
Cons:
  • Ergonomic quirks can make the V30 awkward to hold
  • You may miss some shots due to slow camera autofocus
  • Carrier-specific versions come with annoying bloatware and logos.

LG V30 Smartphone Review

With the LG V30, the Koreans have made quite an effort, producing the smartphone that many had already wished for during MWC. It brings all the missing features, which were lacking in the LG G6 to become an absolutely high-end product: a current top SoC, a quad-DAC audio-chip, and wireless charging.

LG V30 Review

LG's big-screen V30 lets you roam farther and capture wider images than other smartphones. The LG V30 (available on all five major US carriers for around $800, as well as unlocked) is the best phone for a big world. It has a wide-angle camera for when you have a large family or too many friends to crowd into a standard photo. And it allows you to go farther afield on T-Mobile than any other phone, thanks to support for the carrier's new Band 71, 600MHz network. The V30 is a big step forward for LG, and comes close to unseating the Samsung Galaxy S8 as our Editors' Choice, but is ultimately held back by a few little things. A Familiar Face Design-wise, the V30 ($800.00 at T-Mobile) goes for the curved glass that's been so popular on the Galaxy S8. Unlike the LG G6, which has a flat front with a metal frame around it, the glass here protrudes like it does on other phones. The V20's removable back and battery are, alas, gone. Instead, the phone has a shiny, IP68 waterproof metal unibody, with a clear plastic coating over the silver back. It meets the MIL-STD-810G spec for...
Pros:
  • Dual cameras, one ultra-wide angle
  • Gigabit LTE
  • First phone for T-Mobile's new 600MHz network
  • Well-placed fingerprint sensor
Cons:
  • Applies too much noise reduction in low-light photos
  • Battery life isn't great

LG V30 Review: A Near Masterpiece for Media Producers

The camera has become the defining facet of high-end smartphones, perhaps more than any other feature. New handsets are compared first on the basis of their photography skills. Breakthroughs like dual lenses and the ever-popular Portrait Mode have done an admirable job of condensing the capabilities...
Pros:
  • Slim
  • light design
  • Delightful wide-angle camera
  • Immersive display
  • Excellent audio from the Quad DAC
  • Headphone jack
Cons:
  • Mono bottom-firing speaker
  • LG software learning curve
  • Poor battery life

LG V30 review: A flagship that's not just for creatives

With big phones increasing in popularity, the LG V30 lands in a space that's more competitive than ever before. The Samsung Galaxy S8+ and the Note 8 are particular rivals and there's competition from devices like the (more affordable) Huawei Mate 10 Pro .
Pros:
  • Great design and build
  • Waterproofing
  • 3.5mm headphone socket and headphones sound great thanks to Quad DAC
  • Wide-angle camera
  • Good battery life
  • Good fingerprint sensor placement
Cons:
  • Display isn't the best quality out there
  • Some software quirks (failed Bluetooth) and bloat apps
  • Camera performance could be better in some areas
