LG V30 64GB
We're spoilt for choice when it comes to premium-quality smartphones, with the LG V30, as well as the larger LG V30 Plus, being very worthy to this exclusive club. In terms of dazzling features, the V30 ticks a lot of boxes, including these ones!
A Big Screen Experience
The V30 pushes the screen right out to the edges in truly eye-catching style. More than 80% of the front surface area is made up of screen, which hosts a big, clear resolution of 1,440 x 2, 880.
A Near Cinematic Experience
Probably the biggest feature of the screen is what you can watch on it! HDR10 (High Dynamic Range) support means you can enjoy HDR content of cinematic quality from sources including Amazon and Netflix.
A Vastly Improved Camera
The improvements in the V30's camera are in fact so substantial, that it could well be considered the best smartphone camera you can get. It's certainly right up there, thanks to a 16-megapixel main camera, a 13-megapixel wide-angle camera and HDR video, where much attention has focussed on upgrading the shooting, editing and sharing tools.
Sounds Wonderful Too
In recent years, LG phones have made a name for striking audio quality, and the V30 keeps that reputation intact...in fact, it probably enhances it! Put this down to Hi-Fi Quad DAC which basically makes music sound less digital and "tinny", and far more rich and deep, like real music should sound!
Those Important Internals
Some high-quality components inside the V30 deliver the mind-blowing stuff you can see and hear in the V30, with Snapdragon 835 and Android 7.1 Nougat being prominent features of the V30's operational platform.

LG V30 review: Another great LG phone that just isn't great enough
The V30 is a really good phone in a sea of great ones, and it just doesn't do enough to stand out from the crowd.- Compact design
- great battery life
- and top-of-the-line specs
- Camera app brings excellent features and shooting modes
- Quad DAC offers superior sound...
- Display is inconsistent and duller than other OLEDs
- UX 6.0+ skin doesn't improve on the Android experience
- Image quality isn't as good as its peers
LG V30 review: A flagship that's not just for creatives
With big phones increasing in popularity, the LG V30 lands in a space that's more competitive than ever before. The Samsung Galaxy S8+ and the Note 8 are particular rivals and there's competition from devices like the (more affordable) Huawei Mate 10 Pro .- Great design and build
- Waterproofing
- 3.5mm headphone socket and headphones sound great thanks to Quad DAC
- Wide-angle camera
- Good battery life
- Good fingerprint sensor placement
- Display isn't the best quality out there
- Some software quirks (failed Bluetooth) and bloat apps
- Camera performance could be better in some areas
LG V30 review
The V30 isn’t just a G6 refined with a combination of glass and metal. It feels focused, because it scraps the gimmicks the V-series used to be known for. Media-friendly upgrades like the quad-DAC give it a real sound step-up over any other smartphone you can buy right now, and performance was never in doubt thanks to that Snapdragon CPU. Camera quality isn’t fantastic, but the second wide-angle sensor at least makes it a versatile companion for anyone with the travel bug. If only the OLED screen was as striking as the all-glass design. As it stands, display quality just isn’t up to the same high standards as the rest of the smartphone world. Seeing how the screen is the one thing you look at every time you use your phone, this misstep is difficult to ignore - but if you get lucky and find a handset with a decent panel, there’s still a lot to like here.- Phenomenal sound quality
- Gorgeous design
- Versatile dual-lens camera
- One of the weakest OLED screens around
- Camera quality still not up there with the best

LG V30+
There is something to be said about expectations. The LG V20 surprised many as one of the best smartphones of 2016, and proved that the V series of devices from the South Korean manufacturer are indeed its standout offering at the moment.- Solidly constructed body
- Superb camera performance
- Speedy Processor
- Bright and crisp display
- A tad expensive
- Lack of conventional power button not for everyone
I have mixed feelings about LG range of smartphones. Over the previous two years, the company has had a rough time of competing with the likes of Apple and Samsung with their flagship G-series range of smartphones.
There have been a lot of ‘almost great’ smartphone releases in 2017, and the LG V30 is another such example. There’s a lot of great, if not excellent things about this phone, but at the same time there are a couple of issues that, in the face of strong competition, are hard to ignore.
- Beautiful design with an expansive, small-bezel display
- Packed with features including Gigabit LTE, high-quality DAC, water resistance, microSD expansion and headphone jack
- Excellent rear cameras
- LG’s p-OLED display technology needs work
- Unimpressive, clunky and bloated software
LG V30 camera review
With its extreme wide angle secondary camera and and extensive video feature set, the LG V30 makes a great device for vloggers or anyone else interested in video production with a smartphone. The wide angle works great in still photography as well, allowing you to squeeze more into the frame, without the need for accessory lenses. The V30 doesn't quite match the best in class in terms of pixel-level image quality but is otherwise an excellent device for content production and a great smartphone in general use.- Mobile video shooting, wide angle photography
- Zooming, large image magnification
LG V30
On paper, the V30 has the features to make any movie or music fan salivate - but it only fully delivers in one of those areas. An uprated DAC makes the difference to audio, giving it an edge over its Android rivals. However, the OLED screen doesn't cope as well with HDR video as its rivals.- Lovely sound
- Adaptable dual-lens camera
- Premium design
- Skinny screen bezel
- HDR video quality not up to snuff
- Camera doesn't rival the competition
