I enjoyed my experience with the LG Optimus One. It may not offer the beefiest spec sheet or even the highest-resolution screen, but for the price it provides a weighty build and a decent user experience.
I've had the Optimus One for over a year now.. I'm still running Froyo on the device. It's a great budget phone for 10k. Screen is great, touch is very smooth. Battery lasts a little more than a day but thats how all smartphones are. Looks aren't too great, basic apps run smoothly.
LG's been putting out touchscreen phones for a long time, but has yet to pull off a proper success in the amazingly competitive Android scene. Its Optimus GT540 was a poor attempt at making a stylish and original phone, and ultimately ruined by a terrible resistive touchscreen.
The good news for anyone on a budget is that you no longer need deep pockets to benefit from a decent range of web, app and email features on a smartphone. LG is famed for its smartphones in the low to mid-price range and in the Optimus One it has produced one of its most capable Android phones -...
Very decent set of features including sat-nav with voice control and directions; good-value handset; wonderful email facilities, in particular Gmail
Web pages are disappointing on the low-res display; cheap-looking design; disappointing software
The LG Optimus One feels like a better device than LG's GT-540 Optimus. We prefer the design and we like that the buttons are to the point, unlike the Huawei Ideos, which goes a little overboard on controls.
LG's tinkering isn't too aggressive; Android 2.2; smartphone features at an affordable price
Low resolution display; camera performance isn't anything to get excited about; flex in the display centre means the capacitive display behaves more like a resistive one
Unveiled during the company's online press conference in Seoul, LG's new FroYo handset will be optimised for Google Mobile Services and will also boast LG's custom user-friendly interface, a 600MHz processor, and a 3.2-inch HVGA capacitive touchscreen at 320 x 480p resolution.
Undemanding and pleasant, but HTC's low and mid-range offerings outclass it
Android 2.2 at its core; small; slim and sturdy
Poor screen; HTC Legend is a similar price and size
LG's latest Android handset, the Optimus One, follows on from the original Optimus GT540, which at the time of review was far too expensive and ran an out-of-date version of Android.
Your first glimpse of the Optimus One will tell you that this is no sleek and glossy fashion phone – but just like your mother is always telling you, looks aren't everything. The screen is surrounded by a lot of dead space, save for the required Menu, Home and Back buttons, and an extra zoom button...
