LG G5 is built around a modular concept. There are currently two modules available that extend the functionality of the phone. The camera module slides onto the phone and transforms the phone into a camera including buttons and a camera grip. The audio module has been developed in co-operation with Bang & Olufsen (B&O).

LG decided to ditch the modular design for the successor LG G6 due to limited interest among consumers.

New LG G5 Dual SIM 16MP 32GB Smartphone Pink review

The LG G5 reflects a significant change in strategy for LG. The company continues to commit to excellent performance, but no longer wishes to push the limits of raw computing or camera sensor power just to win the technological race.

New LG G5 Dual SIM 16MP 32GB Smartphone Pink review

The company turned an interesting smartphone, which undoubtedly will be one of the main events of the beginning of the year, although not in any way will not be able to compete in strength and importance with the announcement from Samsung .

LG G5 review: An imperfect start to LG's modular future

Cool ideas that don't pan out So there's a lot to unpack when it comes to the G5 and a number of questions that still need answering. Will more "Friends" accessories be announced, and are third-party manufacturers even interested in releasing accessories for the phone?
Pros:
  • Camera is impressive
  • especially secondary wide-angle shooter
  • Metallic body is a welcome shift for LG
  • Always-on display is customizable
  • Modular port could evolve into something great
Cons:
  • Design looks "unfinished
  • Strange software quirks
  • Build quality and value of Cam Plus is questionable
  • Unclear how many modular accessories will be released

Featured Review: LG G5

I went into this experience with high hopes and with fantastic first impressions. LG's presentation on all fronts is flashy, fluid and attractive to say the least. They've built this one up as something to break new ground, and in many ways, they've definitely done that here.
Pros:
  • Fantastic new design
  • Modular build brings lots of possibilities
  • Great display
  • Battery life is phenomenal
  • APT-X HD for 24-bit Bluetooth audio
  • Snapdragon 820 is ultra fast
  • Video is among the best on the market
  • Wide-angle lens makes for some really interesting shots and video
Cons:
  • LG's UX 5.0 is as convoluted as ever
  • Carrier-exclusive band support rather than an International phone
  • Camera software is confusing
  • Photo quality is mediocre at best most of the time

LG G5

Regardless of how the end result turned out, it's always nice to see a company try something new. For the underdogs in the Android market, the main question for any new device is "why should anyone buy this over the latest Samsung phone
Pros:
  • A removable battery
  • One of the rare flagships with support for Google's always-on voice commands
  • USB Type-C makes this phone ready for the future
  • Snapdragon 820 has good performance and the phone's battery life is acceptable if not exceptional
  • A decent camera
Cons:
  • The bottom release mechanism just isn't good enough
  • It holds the bottom part on unevenly, and on one side is so loose you can see through it, LG carved an awful groove around the back of the phone, and the edges are pretty sharp, A microSD card, great! But LG killed Android 6.0's adoptable storage.

LG G5 review: Disruptions start with a first step

There's a lot of experimentation on this new smartphone, and it all begins in the hardware. From a design standpoint, the LG G5 is a blend of similar and unique. From a distance anyone could mistake it for the typical flat slab.
Pros:
  • Modular makes a comeback
  • Amazing primary camera
  • Amazing wide-angle camera
  • Outstanding performance
  • Futuristic design
  • Replaceable everything
  • LG Friends
  • Potential for more modules
Cons:
  • Needs more polish in manufacturing the bottom slot
  • Why are the chamfers so sharp
  • Microdized treatment feels like plastic
  • Aging concerns over paint finish
  • The display is dimmer than average
  • Inconsistent battery life

LG G5

Coming from its Best Mobile Device award at MWC16, the LG G5 has now landed on local shores. There's much talk about its ability to pair up with its ‘Friends', but forget the modular design, the biggest plus of the G5 is its wide-angle lens.
Pros:
  • Awesome wide-angle lens
  • strong processor and specs
  • great screen
  • LTE
  • modular abilities
Cons:
  • Problem with silver finishing coming off on edges
  • battery life not good
