Kobo Aura One
Kobo Aura One is one of the largest eBook readers on the market and the screen measures 7.8-inch. Kobo has managed to preserve a pixel density of 300 dpi even though the size has increased. Hence, it's suitable e-reader if you need a large screen that displays text in a crisp manner.
This device is waterproof like the Aura H2O model and capable of storing 8 GB of content. It's also speedy by employing a 1 GHz processor and 512 MB internal memory.

When Kobo briefed me on the release of its new e-reader, a company rep explained that the company "[wasn't] sure if there was a premium price point" when they released the Aura HD back in 2013.

The $229.99 Kobo Aura One is not your average ebook reader . It's waterproof, for starters, and boasts one of the largest E Ink touch screens we've seen. It also has adaptive front lighting that automatically shifts color temperature to reduce eye strain.- Big, bright screen
- Adaptive backlight
- Waterproof
- Supports EPUB files
- 8GB of internal storage
- Pricey
- Screen has slightly shadowy edges
- Lacks memory card slot

The Aura One stands apart with a big display, waterproofing, and a nighttime-friendly display mode. Despite some quirks, it's a fine choice for shoppers not locked into Amazon's or B&N's e-reader ecosystem.

Kobo Aura One review
What is this heresy? The best ereader yet and it doesn't have an Amazon logo on the back? It's true: the big screen, ambient light sensor and waterproofing nudge the Aura One ahead of anything Amazon (or Kobo itself) has released to date. Funny, then, that the only issue is that it's not a Kindle .- A screen as big as a paperback book
- Clever lighting
- which won't keep you up at night
- Your new waterproof bathtime companion
- You can't buy your books from Amazon
- That bigger screen means more to lug around

Kobo Aura One
When you think of an e-reader, you probably think of Amazon. There's nothing wrong with that: after all, the company does make the best e-reader available right now with the Kindle Paperwhite . But the Kobo Aura One shouldn't instantly be dismissed just because it isn't made by Amazon.- It's water-resistant
- Big
- crisp display
- Pocket integration
- Clean UI
- Slightly uneven backlight
- Ecosystem not as strong as Amazon
The Kobo Aura One is getting all the attention lately but Kobo actually released two new ebook readers this September. In addition to the Aura One, they also came out with a new 6-inch Kobo Aura Edition 2 to replace the original Kobo Aura.
