Universal Offering With Niche Appeal | Knack Review

As you've been told a million times already, the PlayStation 4 was recently released and with it came a slew of launch titles. While it is always a great thing to have lots of games to play on your brand new console, launch titles have developed a bit of a reputation.

Lots of Potential; Fun Characters

Repetitive Soundtrack; Ease of Death

Knack (PS4) Review

Knack is a prototypical launch game. Everything about it screams "easily accessible launch title," and that's a big reason the game succeeds. It isn't overly ambitious, it isn't groundbreaking, it isn't pushing limits of a system, and so there's not a whole lot that can go wrong.

Knack

The Last of Us , Beyond: Two Souls , and Ratchet and Clank: Into the Nexus ).  The game's visual fidelity and polish are high everywhere, but other than the game's titular character, nothing in the game looks inspired.

Knack

The launch lineup for new consoles is rarely that extensive. You can't really make a masterpiece with a tight deadline and unfamiliar hardware as your chief motivators. Killzone: Shadow Fall did of course prove that even in a hurry, you can make something wonderful looking for the PS4.

no vibration all through

Graphic is good. too simple moves, very much disappointed that there was no vibration on the controller, don't know why, should have been programmed to the game?

PS4 Review - 'Knack'

Knack is an action adventure game revolving around "The Doctor," a not-so-mad scientist who studied ancient relics from a long-lost civilization for many years and finally found a way to bind them together and give them consciousness.

Knack (PS4) - Review

Knack is the type of game I really appreciate on paper. Despite being a launch title for the PlayStation 4, it's a deliberate throwback to PS1/PS2 era platformers, interested less in selling the power of the console and more in creating a charming world and good platforming gameplay.

'Knack' reviewed: Harder than it looks

, a character questions whether it's a good idea to bring the titular hero on a military mission, claiming that Knack looks too delicate for combat. Full of bravado, Knack immediately says that he'll prove his worth by going through a combat-heavy obstacle course.

Knack Review

Knack signifies two experiments in one: Knack himself as a technological marvel and construct comprised of ancient relics held together by an energy core, and Knack the game as an attempt to combine old-school difficulty and linear game design with new-school graphics and a checkpoint system.

Strong concept for protagonist; Beautiful environments and cel-shaded graphics; Old-school difficulty

Boilerplate characters; Beautiful environments and cel-shaded graphics; Repetitive level design; Extremely padded; Poor character progression; Tags

Knack Review (PS4)

As one of two flagship exclusive launch titles for the PlayStation 4 (the other being Killzone: Shadow Fall ), Knack has a lot of expectation to live up to as a definitive "next-gen" (now current-gen) experience. Console launches, however, are notorious for being a breeding ground of mediocrity.

Particle physics are great; Awesome animation and visuals throughout; Social features; Accessible yet challenging; Knack

The overt simplicity does not add anything to the genre..; ...in fact; it feels like a step backwards; Story falls apart more than Knack after a KO
